Dead radio buttons

I don't know if anyone else has had this issue with their radio, but I now have 2 buttons on my less than 2 months old MINI that do not work. The first one was the #1 preset button (furthest to the left). It stopped working altogether about 2 weeks ago after working off and on for a few days. When I push it nothing happens, but when I push the other half of the button, which controls the #2 preset it works fine. I figured I would take it in eventually and would use the steering wheel controls to navigate to that preset until then. But then yesterday the same thing happened to the button on the far right, which is the "return/back" button. So now the only way to get off the "info" screen is to push the mode button...which is a royal pain.

So I'm dropping it off at the dealer tonight, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue with their radios. It seems way to odd that I would have 2 buttons go out if it hasn't been a problem for anyone else.

Thanks!

It sounds like buttons are either dragging or sticking on speedo faceplate trim or the radio has a mechanical defect with the buttons. With problem occuring on both end buttons, I suspect interference with trim. Car is still in warranty, have MINI fix it.

Yeah...that could be it. Strange that it was both ends.

I dropped it off last night and the SA said they would probably just replace the radio. Hopefully that's the end of it. The only bummer of the deal is they didn't have any MINI's available as loaners...I was really hoping to try an A/T to since I never test drove one. Instead they gave me an X3. I guess it's OK, but I don't think I would ever buy one.

Yep, I've got the same problem with the #1 button. It worked once upon a time because I set the preset for FM and Satellite but now, it does nothing. I'll get it in eventually...
Curious as to what the dealer actually does to fix it.

Nice to know it wasn't just mine...kinda.

I was going to wait until I needed my first service, but then the return/back button went out and that had to be fixed.

Same problem here with the #1 button. Turned out to be completely mechanical in nature. After wiggling the button around I got the button press to register. Only problem is the button now clicks twice before the press registers. I'll have it fixed completely next dealer visit.
