Need some clarification??

So I purchased a:

Single 10" JL audio 10w3v3-2 (a 2ohm subwoofer)... 500 watts RMS

JL Audio JX 360/2 360 watt RMS amplifier

I bought the amp because I thought I had another subwoofer on the way, that did not work out
and now I have an amp that I do not believe is compatible with the subwoofer.

I guess I can't bridge this amp to 2 ohms...

I'm going to resell the amp, and purchase one that will work for this subwoofer. But, which amplifier would I need. A mono amp 2 ohm?

Would this work better: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=280858120049

Please help

Thanks

You're correct that amp is only stable at 4 OHM bridged. I have the older 500/1 thats not a class D. I am running it 4OHM to a single 12 and I have to keep it turned down or it'll run you out of the car. Get the RBC-1 with it so you can adjust the gain on it remotely.

Nice thing about the class D is it should fit under the seat. If you get the older one it won't.

Thanks. I think I'm going with the alpine m500... its a mono block class
D amp...it's smaller, so will fit under passenger seat nicely, plus a little
cheaper than the JL audio 500/1 amp.

how do you think they stack up against each other

I haven't messed with the alpine. I like the size of it. The JL you posted in he second one is the one I have I love it but it's huge. It won't fit under the seat. Mine it attached to the back of the rear passenger seat and takes up quite a bit of the width of it.

yea, i have the JX360 at my house, but it's going back. It wont fit
under the passenger seat. Is that truly the best spot to put the the
amp?

Also, I have a capacitor from my old setup, which is practically new. I doubt I need it,
but I'm going to throw it back there. Any recommendations on this? My fiancees dad
is going to help install the system this week.

The Kenwood KTV-514 DVD deck
JL 10W3v3-2
for a day the JX-360 amp
(but will be replaced within a few dayswith the alpine m500 or jx 500)

Running wires to back? which route? Thanks

I will be getting rid of my JL eventually and get this http://www.amazon.com/PBR500X1-Rockf...ata/B007AQ2X4I

I have heard mixed things about them but they are small enough to put in the side pannel on the drivers side

Great choice in the subwoofer. I have the JL 10 Stealthbox and I am very happy with it.

You can probably run wires two ways:

From amp under seat > under the carpet to the rear side panels > under the carpet to the battery.

OR

From amp under seat > under the carpet to the back seats > under the back seats > under the trunk carpet to the battery.

I have a false floor where my rear seats would otherwise be and my amps are hidden there, so I'm sorry I'm not more helpful here.

I'm not sure about the size of your cap but you can maybe hide it in one of the rear side panels.

If money was no issue, that stealth box would have been my ideal install. It's pricey!!

Thanks for the information in regard to running the wires. I'll post pics once the install
is done. This forum has been helpful in many ways.

the cap will help stiffen voltage and filter noise from the alt.

here is a video on that:

I got everything put in, the deck, sub, and amp.. the correct amp will be here next week, but I ran wires to where it will be located. It all works/sounds great. I might dynamat some areas.

One issue. The kenwood KVT 512 is locked when I access the audio options. Some sort
of Kenwood security code. I ordered a remote, and supposedly entering KCAR from the remote will unlock it. I contacted seller, he said he is willing to ship me another unit,
which is reassuring. I'll post pics soon.

If it's the lock I'm thinking of you should be able to lock/unlock the audio options in the Setup menu (my kenwood shows a picture with a wrench for that menu).

You could also try to 'reset' the head unit with the button between ATT and Volume.
