Free Lifetime Sirius Subscription is About to Expire?

I registered my complimentary 1yr subscription in Feb 2011 and at the time was offered free lifetime service which I wrote about here. No one had ever heard of it and a search yielded 0 results. From the start I was skeptical and so with the year coming up, I decided to check my account online and the below screenshot is what I'm seeing upon sign in.

Notice my account is listed as: Sirius Select - Lifetime Complimentary Trial.

It is asking me to renew and the options in the dropdown are:

- "Enhance my trial with more great programming"
- "Add Sirius XM Internet Radio (listen almost anywhere!)"
- "Send a refresh signal to this radio"

I am not sure what to do and don't want to call customer service and potentially "flag" my account for something I wasn't supposed to have in the first place. But at the same time I don't want service interrupted.

Maybe I should just wait and see what happens?

they're gonna put out a hit out on you if you don't renew?
---
I'd call their customerservice line and sweet talk them into a few more free months- " i didn't use it as much as i should have and need a little more time to decide if i want to keep it, what can you do for me?" I've done that before

I received lifetime with my car. I do not know why but I never asked. It has been working for 3+ years.

Does your account show up as "lifetime complimentary trial" also?

After reading this post I logged in to the SIRIUS web site to check my account. It now says "Lifetime Complimentary Trial." It never said that before.

To be honest I could care less. I hardly use it in my MINI. My wife likes it in her cars. I will continue to listen to my CDs and my 80GB iPod which is full.

I have an 07 I bought new in 07. At the time, part of the audio package was lifetime Sirius. I just logged into my account, which I haven't done for a long time and it says the same thing, "Sirius Select - Lifetime Complimentary Trial." This is something new I think. Before when logging in it always just said lifetime subscription, none of this "trial" BS. I have not received anything from them to renew or pay anything. I'll take it up with Mini if it becomes an issue since in 07, lifetime Sirius was an option that I paid for.

Edit: Well I took a shot and contacted Sirius tech support. They said my account is indeed Lifetime even though it says "trial" and I would never have to pay for the service. Who knows if this person is right or not. Their website is definitely confusing. It says exactly what the OP is seeing. The stuff in the blue box is worrying even though this tech I spoke with said none of that affected my account.

I also got a lifetime subscription option with my car. Sirius just works and I have no account.

Actually if I remember correctly that is what it was. I believe if you just got a Sirius enabled receiver it was $400 and a $1000 ($600 more) with lifetime.

Hmm... Well I purchased my Mini through the military sales program in Europe and was wondering if anyone else has and activated it yet in the US. I don't return to the motherland until next year hopefully.

I finally got a Clubman S 2008 . It came with the $1000.00 lifetime Sirius subscription. I'm not too familiar with the Nav display but it shows satellite with all the channels selected but I can't tune to any channels. Is the lifetime transferrable to different owners? I will play around with more in the next few day.

On my 2007 with lifetime the subscription is tied to the car not the person, so fully transferable. Actually there's no way of them knowing if the car has changed hands. With a channel selected, push down on the joystick and it should tune to it.

Annual rate of $80 vs $1000 up front? I'll take the annual thanks.

Not sure here you got $80 when their renewal rate is $199. Unless you call to whine about their price and halve the price.

It's not whining if you know they'll do it. I call about a week before my subscription is due and say "I'd like the year for half-off", and they say "let me check with my supervisor". About 5 minutes later they come back and give me the deal. I've done it 4 times now with 2 different radios, never been a problem and I've never spent more than 15 minutes on the phone. The fact is, if they can afford to offer the half-off deal to keep subscribers then their prices are WAY higher than they need to be and everyone else is just getting ripped off.

noted. I guess I'll have to give them a call to see if I can get that done as well since my subscription is coming to an end soon.

Wow, thanks for the info! Just did it and got 50% off and they prorated the remaining month I have left. Only thing they didn't do was discount the internet streaming, but all in all I'm still saving about $60 a year.

Hello there. I just bought a used 2008 Clubman S with Navigation and lifetime Sirius radio subscription. The Sirius radio part was not receiving any stations, even after the free trial that started today. I called Sirius and told them I bought a used Mini with lifetime Sirius. They said the lifetime stays with the car and not the owner. But I couldn't get the lifetime activated. They said they could give a 3 month free trial, so I took that for now. I tried twice to access Sirius channels after I got the activation refreshed but could not get to channel 186 and highlight it. All the proper channel numbers and names are displayed correctly, but are not highlighted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the radio needs a refresh. You put the radio on channel 1 and have customer service refresh it. Within a minute or so, it will be authorized to receive the stations. They send the serial number over the sat on channel 1 with what the radio is allowed to receive. Right now, the radio doesn't know it is allowed.
