They don't make a dual 12 box for the Mini. They make a single 10in setup with an amp rack. Check out that little button on the top right. Type

Intergral Audio

or

Audio Integrations

Or to get an idea for something try this 10 Inch Sealed Flat Sub Box

I spent 150 on a single 10in setup with a single amp rack next to the sealed enclosure. Cost me around 150 bucks at a local shop.

Build custom, or settle for the usual flea market crap.

The back of any MINI has more than addiquate space for even an extreme 3-4 class SPL system. I got out of sound compitition a long time ago (check out Team Quad in Colorado) but still know what it takes to be LOUD. The only real way to do that is to do the math and build your own system to suit you and the car.

I went custom with mine since the integral audio route was a little too much for my wallet, but you gotta have the tools to make it of course. The amp was mounted under the driver seat above the carpet. After checking my measurements, I could have made the box fit two flat 12's. I would have to lengthen the sides to accommodate the internal air space recommendations for the speakers though.

Did I read that right that you made your box out of sheet metal? I'm also not to familiar with the sub vendor you used. How does that sound? Metals accoustiacal properties are VERY differnet from woods.

I used 16 gauge sheet metal on the cover of the sub box so I don't lose storage space in the boot.

This is the bottom of the cover.

This is with the cover on it.

So the box itself is in fact made of MDF? The pictures very bleached out which is why I asked.

The box itself is made of 3/4" MDF. The cover I put on it is 1/2" plywood with the corrugated sheet metal inserts for the sound to pass through.
