Pause or Stop Button Radio???

I have a Iphone 4 connected to my radio with a Mini Y (usb/audio) cable. My clubman 08 S has no pause or stop button I noticed anywhere, how do you stop a mp3 when it is playing from say your ipod or iphone? I notice as soon as i plug it in, it starts playing continuous, it never stops, only controls I see are forward and reverse??? Any idea?

I too have been wondering this same thing..

Also, is there a way to display track times? I would love to know how far I am into my audiobook in case I lose position and have to FF to the right spot.

Thanks
Phlerb

P.S. I have an 08 HiFi system

There's actually no need for a pause button. Simply turn off the radio.

You'll notice that it keeps your place exactly. Once you turn it on you pick up right where you left off.

Actually there is a need, I need to stop my mp3 from continouously playing when I want me sirus from Iphone 4 to play, it seems the mp3 wants to override the sirius, my iphone 4 has sirus/xm on it and allows me to play it over my car stereo, but sometimes becaue the mp3 is always playing, it won't let the sirius over ride it, only way to do it would be to stop the mp3 from playing which I don't think you can for some odd reason, just makes no sense that they made a car stereo with no stop or pause button on it.

ooohh I see what's going. I think the problem here is that the Y cable really only works with the ipod function of you iphone. So when you plug it in to the Y cable your mini tries to access the ipod therefore overriding the sirius. The new mini connected stereo was designed specifically with this issue in mind. You're stuck.

You're best bet here would be to just stick with a plain old aux cable (male to male 3.5mm headphone cable). You'll no longer be able to control your ipod via the car stereo but you want have this problem anymore.

Or just unplug the USB side of the y-cable. I put a file called "aaa" with about 5 minutes of silence on my ipods since I was tired of hearing the same song play whenever I plugged it in before I selected what I wanted to play.

Absolutely! And you can pick up those cables pretty cheap on-line. I use to do this all the time with the sirius app as well as other applications like pandora.

Again, you will have to control everything from your iphone. But you'll be able to hear it on you mini. Just switch it to AUX instead of USB.

Don't know about this website, but this is the kind of cable you need.

If you have the Y cable, you don't need anything else. Just unplug the USB from the car leaving the 3.5mm connected. Of course it won't charge your phone, but it won't interrupt your Sirius/Pandora etc with mp3 playback.

Really, I thought the usb is what pulls the Aux power for the iphone or ipod?

Aux isn't a powered connection, and the iPhone powers it's own ports.

I wish the USB put out more power so it would actually charge things. I think it puts out a little -- enough to keep my iPods playing but if it's already dead it takes AGES (if at all) for it to charge enough to play. I wonder if the y cable could be fitted with an adapter that would draw power from the lighter plug.

I don't have an iPhone yet but if I ever get one it would be nice to be able to charge it while playing!

Nice, but no I meant somehting you could insert between the y-cable's USB plug and the port on the car to give it more charging power.

Something like this would probably work : http://www.cablejive.com/products/dockStubz.html

Then get a 12V to mini usb plug and connect it to the side of the dock stubz.

You'd think I would have noticed that kit I use the Dock Stubz in my wife's Wrangler because the OEM iPod connect is HUGE and doesn't fit the iPhone with any case installed. The Dock Stubz solved that, but I'm not injecting power into it.
