Which iPod interface adapter…OPINIONS PLEASE!!!

I was looking to go straight out through my iPod earphone jack into the my factory install AUX access (wo/CD changer, nav sys, or bluetooth) being the easiest and most trouble free way to go. However, it seems most folks have gone with the adaptors to gain some control through the factory install… Question, which of those adapters (Dice, USA-Spec, Grom, Neo Pro-Link, etc.) perform the best and are the most reliable day to day? Note, an FM interface is simply not acceptable

I just installed the AUX myself a few weeks ago and love it. Cheap and works like a charm. Other that than I've heard DICE is ok.

Aux

I'm certainly not surprised scottie... I figure it couldn't be more trouble free that way... Did you use the the BMW/Mini Aux input kit #82110153367? If so where did you get it?... as I'm about 4 hours away from the dealership... But also if you've got to tear into the dash some, I was thinking of going w/adapter if I could find one that was reliable* and worth it... And also worth the tear-out/put-back from the boot to the dash for the cable run...

*OK reviews - some talk of freeze-ups to less than expected performance...

scotty, did you put in a mount as well? Thanks for your response...

I am also considering using the simple AUX IN cable.
Mini Aux In

I am also tempted by this but concerned about the quality and have not yet been able to confirm it will work on a 1st Gen Mini

I've been studying my own ipod interface options and ran across the 17 page dice discussion. notably it is several years old and is about 1st gen minis but may be worth looking at

Here is what I use and it works flawlessly and it uses the digital audio out signal not the analog one coming from the headphone jack. It is pretty much the same size as the Apple factory dock connector which is great for use with a case.

You use the Aux In level adjustment through the stereo for line level amplification and you are good to go! Oh yeah, you can charge at the same time.

I purchased this Ipod interface from bestbuy and I love it! Allows me to control tracks with the steering wheel.

Only issue is the additional cost for install, due to running the cord from the boot to the front. I was cautioned to not update the software on the Ipod or Iphone or it may not work with the steering wheel.

Works with my Ipod and my Iphone perfectly. R53 2006

So, just to confirm: You use this with the simple OEM Aux In jack?

I have the USA Spec unit and it works flawlessly. It has a "Direct" control mode so that you can use the iPod manually like you would if just listening anywhere with earbuds. If manual operation (scrolling through the iPod and selecting songs, artists, etc.) is important, make sure whatever you choose has the capability. From what I understand, not all do.

TimL,

That is exactly what I do and it works perfectly and sounds great. The beautiful part is that you can charge your device as well.

I'm still waiting on my PocketDock to arrive, but I'm hoping to get my aux input installed this evening. Last night I copped a quick, blind feel behind my head unit to try to locate the receptor for the aux cable. (Doesn't that sound dirty!) Unfortunately I literally couldn't quite put my finger on it.

So today I came across the following pix:

Am I correct in thinking that I should be aiming for the set of pins directly below the fuse?
