Audio question 07 HK into an 08

Just got an 08 MCS hard top with the basic one cd player. I bought a Harmon Kardon 6 CD changer stereo and amp that came out of an 07 JCW convertible today. I would like to know if I can swap this HK for my crappy single cd system that doesn't sound good.

Doing the OEM removal job is no big deal really, just a bunch of screws and clipped on trim. It appears, by the looks of the face panel on the 6 cd changer that it won't be a direct replacement and I may need different center console parts.

He had those two columns on either side of the center console that had that cup holder attached to the passenger side, my console does not, it's all enclosed and black. Is this doable or did I buy this for nothing?

Sorry to give you the news, but it won't work. Your 08 MCS is a 2nd generation MINI and the 07 convertible is 1st gen. They have completely different and incompatible audio electronics.

You can probably find a buyer for the Harman Kardon amp because they occasionally fail and owners look for a replacement unit. The CD changer... most people have gone to iPods or other players and there isn't much demand.
