sterio not working

i took my mini 07 to best buy and had them install a box and amp in the car...and now my stereo will not turn on they said they have no idea why and want me to take it back to the dealer to have it fixed...
Will this void my warranty and what could be the problem?
PS i checked all the fuses...

No MINI will not warranty external work. Best Buy is known to do stuff like this as they are far from professionals in that area. It sounds to me like you need to have Best Buy step up and fix this. Good luck...

I would make sure that Best Buy take out he equipment they put in and then if the radio works find another place to go have the stuff installed.

If the radio still does not work then make sure that you get in writing they will pay for the repair if it is not covered under warranty.

Now with all that said if the dealer sees any and I mean ANY signs for work being done on the stereo system or its wiring then they will not cover the repair, and you will have to pay going rates to get it fixed.

Good Luck!

Most likely, the dealer will simply put the stereo back to the original configuration and ensure that it works. Then you'll be on your own again as far as getting the sub and amp to work.

HU = Head Unit or Radio

And yeas there is a fuse on the back of it. But it should have blown the fuse panel fuse first, but who knows. Any way it is not a hard job to take the HU out but it can be very time consuming if you have not done it before.

The fuse on the back of the HU is a 10 amp Slow Blow but anything is possible.

Let us know what the dealer has to say when it is repaired.

Well if you get any kind of display on the speedo display lines then teh fuse on the back of the HU should be good.

But this is actually a good sign.

If I can make the suggestion to remove the fuse in the fuse panel for the radio (HU) and leave it out for 30 minutes and then put it back in to see what happens. This should cause a hard reset of the radio and display system. This may or may not work.

So yeah, the fuse on the back of the head unit shown below, (behind the big speedometer) is most likely blown.

Okay, I misread your earlier post. After looking through the WDS here, I find nothing else obvious that you could check. It shows Fuse F21 for the power, and the rest of the troubleshooting steps don't include help for the radio not powering on. You can try this:

Reset CCC

When the rotary pushbutton as well as the buttons CD/MD eject and DVD eject on the front panel are pressed simultaneously, the CCC runs a reset. Run according to the instructions in the test plan.

I really think the HU is now dead and will have to be replaced.

Good question, and I don't know the answer. Try both of them!

I can't recall now, but there maybe fuses under the hood/bonnet make sure all of those are okay if you have not.

Well i just dropped my mini off at mini Hendricks and they said they could not put it in writing that best buy ****ed up my radio..lol
you want to hear why....
Because the mini Hendricks team was not there when best buy was working on it....
so i suggest that if you are having any work done to your car always have some one from the dealer with you at all times to make sure your car stays covered under the warranty...ha ha to funny

well i told the lady that best buy knows what they did and they just need it in writing or they will not pay to fix it and then i said i don't understand why you would not want to help me get then to pay for it because other wise its covered under the warranty...so we will see but as of now still no tunes for me..
