Using another autoradio instead of the default one ?
Hello,
I've looked over 25 pages of archives but didn't find an answer !
I plan to buy a Mini but i'm scared of that Stereo installation...
Is there any way, to change the default autoradio ? I doubt ! I saw that it's part of the Speedo so you can't remove it.
But, i know it's all about the look and so one inside the Mini and i agree at 200% with this, but would it be possible to plug my aftermarket radioplayer inside the car ??!! I mean, anywhere inside, i don't care, i just wanna know if it's possible. Like, having my autoradio on the passanger seat, and falling off when driving lol. No seriously, if it's possible i would make something to stick my autoradio somewhere so i can play MP3 with it (the mini i plan to buy doesn't come off with MP3, just the basis stereo installation...)
So, will it be possible with any adaptors or something ? Anyone who have already done that ?
Thanks, and mini for life !

Stepin,
Search is your friend and if you really searched you would find this question has been answered probably 100 time here on the forums. Here are some of the links.
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...mpartment.html
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...head-unit.html
ANd both of these are on the fist page of threads.

The base stereo can play MP3 CDs. If you want additional functionality, you can order the USB option and plug in either an iPod or some other storage device with MP3s. Unless you're dead set on hating the Mini's stereo just because it's OEM, there's no reason for you to go to such lengths just to get an aftermarket headunit installed.
The irony is the next post up, right this minute, is the thread regarding the fella who installed the double din touchscreen and carpc, which includes the single and double din install kits.
And yes, mp3 cd's are cool... but thumb drives go faster (I am fairly certain, lol).

Except that the thread you are talking about was only a 7" touch screen there are not electronics behind it, as you would find with a standard 2 DIN radio or head unit. He uses the OEM Radio Head Unit. The computer is mounted in the glove box and connects to the AUX inupt of the OEM stereo.
The plastics were custom made my the thread OP and it took him a lot of work.
So the thread that you are talking about did not change the head unit as the OP of this thread is wanting to do.
