Does my Clubman S have hifi?

ok, this is an awkward question to ask. but does my clubman have hifi? it is not listed on the invoice as something i paid for.

I have been reading the threads about upgrading the front speakers (the easy ones) and thats what spurred this question. my car has the 1 inch tweeters in the front pillars, so there are 8 speakers in my car that i can find. I tried scouring the backseat area for the supposed pair of 1 inch tweeters that are there with the hifi kit but couldn't find them, just the 6x9s.

can someone give me some clues to determine if i have hifi like...
where to locate the rear mounted tweeters
or maybe all setups have the front tweeters

ive tried looking at other's interior pictures and haven't been able to determine if the cars with the front tweeters on the pillars have hifi or not.

any help appreciated. embarrassing question for me to ask you about my car, i know.

The tweeters in the A-pillars suggests that you do have the HIFI option. You won't find the #9 and #10 speakers easily. They are tweeters mounted in front of the 6x9 speakers in the rear. You may have to remove the plastic side panels to see them.

The HIFI will have an amp mounted in the rear. At least that's where it is in the Coupe. It is the aluminum box with cooling fins in the photo below.

My invoice did not list the HiFi as it was included in an accessory 'package'.

There is a 'pop-out' panel on left side boot wall (with the gas door emergency pull cord inside) where you can see the HiFi Amp Robin spoke of and is also a handy place to stash an extra tool kit, etc..

robin, pilotart, thanks a ton for your input. i will be checking out the car shortly to see if the amp is there.

ive read nearly every thread here about replacing the speakers here and i have a couple of questions, robin, about a couple of things you've said.

in one thread you mentioned that doing the front speaker replacements are easy save the driver side door where the power mirrir switch falls apart upon disassembly? is this something i need to worry about? how much are we talking about here to put it back together?

and i noticed you don't seem terribly pleased with the "brightness" of the infinity and would opt for something "warmer" do you know which brands are known for having "warmer" sounds.

i want to do the front speakers and probably the boss bass600 in the rear. i live in naples, italy with the military so i don't have ready access to the electrical components i'll need to buy (cigarette lighter socket, rca plugs, t-clips simple stuff like that). so i've been compiling a list of all the parts i'll need to do the install. all od that being said, when i get around to this, would you mind looking over my parts list and tell me if you think i have everything i'll need. for me, nothing is worse than having all the new toys in and not being able to do anything with them for weeks because i forgot to order a piece.

thanks again robin and pilotart.
i can't wait to start "tearing" into my door panels

This is on the coop the clubman has the behind the panel on the passenger side of the vehicle. This panel i snot easy to remove as there are 4 other panels that must come off first.

If you look thru the air vent grate that is in the panel on the passanger side rear you will see the amp in shining aluminum.

My mirror switch fell apart but it is really easy to put back together - should only take a minute. The main thing is not to lose any of the four little plastic bits that are inside it, so be prepared to catch them when you are removing that speaker grille.

You just need to figure out how it goes together. Try to check it out as you are taking things apart. It is a little awkward to hold it in place when putting things back, but on horrible. Just something to be aware of.

and i noticed you don't seem terribly pleased with the "brightness" of the infinity and would opt for something "warmer" do you know which brands are known for having "warmer" sounds.
I don't know what to recommend. I haven't had the opportunity to hear different brands. Bought the Infinity Kappas based on reviews and specs. It was a gamble. They aren't horrible, but I think I would have liked something a little warmer.

A lot of people here rave about Focals. Never heard them myself. Problem is that they discourage online sales, and there are counterfeits on ebay, and elsewhere. You have to find a local authorized dealer.

A lot of car audio installers seem to like JL speakers.

I believe that the cigarette lighter socket and plug are international, as are RCA plugs. If you can't get that stuff at the PX, I would think that they would be available in Italy.

so i've been compiling a list of all the parts i'll need to do the install. all od that being said, when i get around to this, would you mind looking over my parts list and tell me if you think i have everything i'll need. for me, nothing is worse than having all the new toys in and not being able to do anything with them for weeks because i forgot to order a piece.
Post your list. I'm sure several of us will chime in.

thanks all.

found the shiny amp on the passenger side of the boot through the grill as schatzy62 said. glad i have it but happy i didn't pay the extra 500 for the "upgrade".

robin, unfortunately it is a NEX (navy base, but not I) and they're just not as good as a good old Army PX.

im working on the list. I was thinking about putting the boss bass600 in the boot where the spare tire would be if i didn't have run flats. has any one gone this route or will the sound be too stifled under there?

thanks again for all of the input.

i guess this post is "officially" resolved

+1 for NAM and you all

but if anyone wants to continue helping me out it would be cool...

as per allmonb in another thread the boss bass does fit where the spare tire would go in the clubman, as for the sound quality who knows.

but the fitment question is resolved!
