If i could change something on the navi program , what would you like???
Forget the POI as they are hard to work with... give me some ideas...I have changed the opening screen to NAM....looks cool but needs work....so what would you change

 

Bypass the legal warning, or reduce its scene time. Annoying to have to dismiss it to get on with things.

 

Ok that can be done...what about the opening logo.....how would you want it...your car.... a mini going into the sunset....or same logo spinning>

 

Switch to "night mode" (std black background) at dusk - switch to "day mode" (light colored background) at dawn.

 

Is there any way to align street names with the streets? I'd pay big bucks for that! I hate, hate, hate all-horizontal street names. Igh.

Can you switch to day mode? I would just love to be able to change the nav and screen colors.

 

That message times out in a short while without you having to dismiss it. Usually if I start the car, then put on my seatbelt, the message is gone before I'm ready to motor.

Cybergypsy, if something can be done about the street name alignment and the POI search, those would be top on my list. The other things I can't say until I see them. Maybe an arrow instead of the circle, or a Mini. Again, I'd have to decide after seeing some samples.

Are you talking about changing some of the fundamental elements in it or just cosmetic stuff? Is it possible to adjust features? Multiple point routing with vias to specify specific roads? How about having the navigation voice say "good morning Minidrivr" everytime it boots up?

 

I put on the seatbelt before starting the engine so I don't have to listen to the chime. So, start the engine, put it in reverse and back out of the garage. I want that PDC screen to come up sooner. I also find the legal waring annoying. I've read it already!

 

Display the software/firmware version in the legal warning screen (but keep it short)

 

If the NAVI is like the BMW ones, the warning will require a change to the firmware. At least that's what I got off the X5 NAVI hacking forums threads.

 

Cybergypsy, some screen shots of what you're talking about doing would help the decision process.

 

Fix the POI search feature which does not work.

 

making the gui better looking would be awesome if that can be done. also what you are trying to do. would making the ipod interface compatible with ipod videos possible.

 

It'd be SOOO COOL to have it sync with my contacts on my phone. The Phone numbers sync up with the MINI, but not the addresses.

For what it is worth, in addition to what has been said above, it would be great if the street names would show up in the "birds eye" view. Also it would useful on occaision if one could input longitude / latitude coordinates of a destination similar to the Nuvi capability.

So, out of curiousity, when you are successful in making some of these revisions () how would they get into the actual system on our individual cars?

 

I posted this by accident in the 1st gen.

My wife just got me a Nuvi 200 for my birthday.
I read all about this .srf file. I did go to that download site, the mac one.
But I have more basic questions maybe. I read the garmin manual it says
to upload photos and such put them in the jpeg folder.

I only have the following folders diag gpx
and one file there.

The garmins screen just says garmin and has a pic
of a computer.

I went to the garmin site and it wasnt helpful.
I've been searching NAM for a long time.

She got it on ebay used but in perfect condition.
(appears the guy took it to europe and used it once,
probably had a better one in his car)

Can somebody point me to a starting point?
I don't mind doing legwork but I am totally clueless
on where to start. It did not come with a disk but
did have all the accessories.

Do I need a disk?
Also the previous owner already registered it.
