Boost Audio

I've search this site through and through. I'm sure someone can either answer this question, or make me look foolish for not finding the answer.

What is the Boost stereo? I have just purchased a 2007 MCS. I know it doesn't have HiFi, only 6 meager sounding speakers. There is the word Boost on the head unit, and it is listed as a Boost Stereo in the VIN dump.

Should I treat this as a base stereo when upgrading speakers, or does it have an amp, like the HiFi, but wth fewer speakers?

Thanks for the help,

Keith

Someone else correct me if i am wrong but i believe the "Boost" is jsut the single in dash CD player. if you do not get a CD player then you do not have Boost

This seem a strange name for a system any way so this may not be right.

Also i do not remember seeing any mini's in my search that did not say boost on the CD player benzel.

Thanks,

I thought maybe it was the standard version with higher power. I didn't look at the stereo's when I was shopping, only noticed it after purchase.

I believe Boost is the standard. The upgrade is called "HIFI". HIFI is the only option with more power. The only other options are to add input components like CD changer, iPod Integration, HD Radio, etc.

Review the speaker swap threads -- even the bog-standard system will sound a lot better when you swap out the 6 1/2 inch speakers in the doors, and the 6x9 speakers in the rear.

Boost is the name for the radio with a two line display in the speedo. This is standard for USA cars. There is a base radio called Wave with a one line display.
