Factory SIRIUS Radio?

How much are all the parts required to add Sirius to my 2003 MCS with non-HK stereo? What parts are needed? And are there any instructions for the install? I hope it pretty much is an easy install, meaning no ripping apart the interior.

I did the one in my 06 and the parts (ordered from Classic in Mentor, OH) ran around $400 at the time. There was the receiver, the antenna, and an "install kit" which I believe was just a bracket and some screws to hold the receiver in place.

The receiver goes into the passenger-side compartment in the boot and plugs right into the CD changer cable. It was a very easy install, and took less than 45 minutes. The only real PITA was the antenna, but they use a different kind now, so I can't speak for that.

When you say "Factory Sirius Radio" do you mean that the Sirius Radio is built into the factory head unit?

No, mean that it is integrated with the stock stereo, so i dont have extra wires or gadgets hooked up. Bascially everything works thru the stock headunit and steering wheel for a nice clean look.

That was a good price, because they are showing almost $585 for all those pieces right now. $400 with a years subscription would be more like it, but thats probably a pipe dream.

I was under the impression that the Sirius antenna was replacing the stock FM antenna. I assume I was wrong, is the Sirius OEM antenna no different than the ones you buy from Sirius? Do you have to snake it thru the interior and have the wire running across the roof? Anyone have pictures of how the OEM Sirius antenna is supposed to be put on the roof?

I installed mine and I got the reciever, bracket, wiring, and antenna.

The antenna does not replace the FM antenna. It sticks to the rook right behind the FM antenna. I had to pull the panel off on that side to install it all and run the antenna wiring up the body. Not hard at all.

One thing though...There is a ground junction where the bracket bolts to (there was on mine). I didn't torque it down enough and the car would stall out at random times. $440 dollars later from MINI to find out. So be sure to tighten that back down.

Mine wired up on the drivers side (06 MCS) and plugged into the factory cabling there for power and signal.
