R56 Speaker Replacement Q

Forgive me if this is covered elsewhere, but I am pretty close to swapping out the 6.5 inch speakers in the door.

One Q, which is the positive/negative wires? My new speakers are labeled, but I am not sure which wire is which. Before I cut and solder, I want to get it right.

Also, how do I get the covers off the smaller speakers in the door? Do I need to do something special w/ the mirror control? Thanks.

Check my gallery. Also, use a battery and do the battery test. One wire to the pos, one to the neg. If the cone bounces inward, that is wrong. Switch the wires and the cone should bounce outward, this is correct.

You can go to harbor freight and get a multimeter
the cheapest one for about $4. Then touch
the wires and it will show + and - .

It also comes in handy for testing the wires in your house
like for replacement of X Y Z to see if the power is off
"really", or REALLY. BZZZZZZZZZ OW BLANKETY BLANK!

Patience. Look at it carefully as you take it apart. There is a certain way it goes together. Once you figure out the logic of it, reassembly becomes easier.

Do I take off the mirror control b/f I pull off the speaker cover. The mirror control comes out of the speaker cover and it looks like if I pull off the cover first, it will break the control.

But that said, I don't see any way to take off the mirror control first.

I just pulled the cover and it came out together with the mirror control in place. Just be gentle, since the mirror control wiring will be tethering it.

You can pull out the mirror control first as a whole. It is clipped like the light holder in the bottom. There's no need to disassemble it. Pop it up gently with a screwdriver at the lower edge. Then detach the connection.
