The phone button is useless unless you have bluetooth. Some one on here mentioned reworking it to mute his radar detector.

The voice button is for voice control of the stereo and Nav is you have it. I works the stereo in my friends 07 without Nav.

Every search I've tried has come up with pre-R56 models. Maybe what I saw wasn't for the R56. I'll keep searching.

Well, if the R56 MFSW is the same as the R53 three-spoke MFSW then I can tell you that when you remove the cover on that spoke the connector has four wires on it. I don't really know how six buttons all work through four wires though and someday probably will make the buttons do something else.

All the discussion I found on Mini2 forum mentioned the wires connected to the car's system bus and went to some kind of control module, making it hard to just splice into the wires. But heck, anything is possible, it would just have to be custom.

Multiplexing / Demultiplexing logic.

That clears things up. I should have majored in electrical engineering as I find my DIY abilities plateauing.

This was a fun read. We need someone to make a simple plug and play module for the R56.

How about just shoving a simple separate button under those buttons? That would be my brute force approach.

all these threads relate to R50/53.

Obviously Mike that sells the Parrot kits has figured this out, these buttons work with his setup on R56 - or Parrot have figured this out - they have these CAN bus modules that work with their kits...

When will have some time I'll take a look at these aftermarket CAN bus modules, unless somebody else here has experience with them and can share...
