Voice recognition with Nav option alone?

I have a Clubman with Navigation on order and am still not sure that I will get the voice recognition, voice command features. I have been told by a person I respect that the voice command feature will only work if you have the Bluetooth option as well.

Anyone have the Nav option without Bluetooth? Does the voice command work?

Thanks.

hmmmmm.... I thought I read here that the voice stuff came with BT as you thought???

Anyway. Don't you use a cell phone? If you do, GET THE BLUE TOOTH. Just don't expect to be able to plug it in to to the armrest, there is basically no support for cell phones and adapters to plug them in.

But the BT is a ncie feature, especially if you have the Nav screen.

I also have the voice control with the NAV, but no bluetooth.

Birdman,

I deleted Bluetooth because my wife and I are retired, out of the business loop and use our cell phones mainly to reunite when we get separated in Costco. Seriously, 1000 minutes a year will cover our cell phone needs.

However I would be very interested if you could tell me if there are other uses of Bluetooth in the MINI.

Thanks.

It is my understanding that you only get the USB port if you get Bluetooth. For me, that would make it worth it.

Gotcha!! I would like to join you, and also be "out of the loop"!!

In your case, I would not get the option then.

k i already put my order in and got the nav but no bluetooth. i also got a MFSW and I ordered an armrest as well (to rest my arm and have additional storage space).

Should I get the bluetooth? I use a cell phone but was going to get one of those headsets for like $100 and save some money. Are there any other uses of the bluetooth feature at $500 in the 08 models? What does it have to do with the ipod?

I dont want the $1000 feature.

thanks

One of the main reasons I am looking at a mini (or, at a newer car in general) is for the bluetooth option. We're well into the new millennium now, and I refuse to buy a car that won't answer the phone for me!

If you decide to get "one of those headsets," then look at the Plantronics 665. The killer feature of this model is that it comes with a dock that plugs into a car's cigarette lighter and lights up when a call comes in... and it auto-answers the phone call when you take it out of the dock to put in your ear.

It's the most car-friendly bluetooth headset I've seen.

But you still have to 1. look down to find it and 2. fumble around to put it in your ear. You might as well be fumbling with the phone.

It quickly becomes second nature.
I like it in the car because there is remarkably little fumbling around with it to answer a call.
