No Focals. I'm looking for a 3 way COMPONENT set...
I've already searched JBL, Infinity, Rockford Fosgate, and a few others, and no one seems to make a 3 way set. Basically, I want to replace all 3 speakers on each side in the front.

call Elemental.....they're clearing out DLS inventory and making it special order only. www.edesignaudio.com - they make a few nice three way sets.

IMO, you want component systems, when you can get them. I'm using 3 way Infinity Kappa 693.7i in the rear, but I think I'm going to have to disconnect the dual tweeters because they have an internal crossover. I'll probably use a separate tweeter instead.
For the front I'm using the woofer from Infinity Kappa 60.7cs 6-1/2" component speakers for the larger door speaker. It fits OK, but some drilling required. Oh, and I'm leaving in place a plastic protector for the rubber around the cone. Otherwise, foam on the door panel will come into contact with it.
I was going to use Infinity Kappa 32.7cf 3-1/2" 2-way car speakers for the small door speakers, but they are too small. I've ordered 4". I will not connect the tweeter on these.
These Kappas all come with external crossovers, which I'm not installing.
Robin, i'm taking the existing speakers and cross overs out, adding an amp, new wiring, speakers, and the works
i edited the OP, adding component set. since that's what i'm looking for... that's a my bad on my part :-p
btw. I've been told, by a fairly good source, that the stock crossovers suck, lol. to be blunt.
elemental design is UNGODLY expensive. for about 100 bucks more than they want for their cheapest 3 way component set, I can get focals.
I'm checking JL audio now

DLS > Focal. You get what you pay for. Elemental is know for being affordable gear...they sell DLS, a super-premium brand and they're on sale now. So, you might be able to get DLS cheaper than Focal
Don't listen to me though....nobody ever does.

a quick froogle search reveals about 338 for a set. not bad at all

pioneer premier PRS series is very good. i recently bought a set and very suprised with build quality and sound. really good for the money. if you want to modify, you can upgrade the passive crossover's capacitor with m caps product. only 1 pair needed and not pricey. sounds very much better.
The 4" Infinity Kappas arrived yesterday and they fit well. I finished the passenger side and it sounds great. I'll tackle the driver side door on Friday. Gotta photograph Vincente Fox today at a friend's house.
Even though the entire system is not in, I think I can highly recommend the Infinity Kappas. I tested them with the balance all the way to the right. They are so much clearer and smoother than the stock speakers. I'm used to a $10,000 home system and figured I'd never be completely happy with any car system, but I am surprised at how well the Kappas sound.
Infinity Kappa 693.7i in the rear, but don't connect the built-in tweeters because they have an internal crossover.
Infinity Kappa 60.7cs 6-1/2" component speaker system for the larger speaker in the door. Put the plastic packing ring (covers the rubber around the cone) back on the speaker after mounting it. This makes a seal with the foam on the grille and keeps the rubber from being crushed by the foam. I used the separate tweeters with the 6x9's, and left the stock tweeters in the A pillars.
Infinity Kappa 42.7i for the small location in the door. It fits well, with one hole needing to be drilled. I put polyfill behind it.
I found the best prices at Amazon (they actually come from Globazar). The above speakers would cost a little over $300 shipped.

By adding the 42.7i aren't you adding a second set of full-range playing speakers to the front? What is the advantage of the 2nd smaller set? Thanks.
I replaced the 5.25" with Infinity Kappa 60.7cs 6-1/2" and the 3.5" with Infinity Kappa 42.7i 4". I did not connect the tweeter in the 42.7i. In spite of being nominally larger sizes, they fit well. I tried Kappa 3.5" in the 3.5" space and they were very much too small.
The sins of the rear seat were unforgivable. I excommunicated it.
Got the Kappas installed in the driver's door, but forgot to take photos. Sorry. The mirror controller was a pain, but we figured out how to do it, eventually.
I'm really happy with the Infinity Kappas. They are fairly bright speakers (I'm used to that with my NHTs). I think that brightness helps them cut through the road noise.
