DICE iPod kit (trunk interface) - trunk cable question
Hi everyone,
I apologize if the answer to my question already exists somewhere in this forum, but I've tried searching for it without luck
.
I have an '02 Mini Cooper. Is there a way to hide the trunk interface cable when routing it from the trunk to the front of the car? Some people have stated that they hid the cable within the interior panels of the car, but I don't know what they mean by that. I noticed a hole in the inside left wall of the CD changer cubby in the trunk. Does anyone know if this hole leads to a hollow tunnel connecting the cubby to the front of the car, under the glovebox? And if so, can I route the cable through there? If not, please give me any ideas (pictures would be even better) about how to hide the cable. This is the first time I'm doing any kind of work on a car, as I am a girly girl with little confidence in my automotive skills

I've considered that, but not for security purposes. I'd never leave my iPod in my car intentionally. That's just me. However, being Mr. **** Boy, I think I like having more control over the iPod than the DICE gives. Therefore, I'd like it up front so I can choose which playlist or album to select rather than scrolling through a list.
I believe FUEGO did what I'm shooting for, I'd just like more details.

Perfect! That's what I was afraid of (sort of). My understanding is that it is a pretty big chore to remove the interior panel, correct? Perhaps I'll wait until I find a nice pair of 6x9s. Thanks for the reply.
There simply wasn't enough room for me to use an electrical fish cable to grab the cable from the B-pillar after I popped the rear interior panel loose but hadn't really taken everything apart. It's not a straight shot as the wires follow the contour of the body as it curves around the rear wheel well.
It took me about 90 minutes total disassembly and reassembly of the panels and the rear seats. I used the Bentley guide as it was the first time for me to fiddle with the Mini. The book was invaluable.
