Sorry, I should have been more specific. You can use the SWI-X , as your radio came IR remote ready just didn't come with the remote. The SWI-X is a universal piece that will mimic the IR codes from a remote, you will have to find a place to mount the IR emitter so it aims at the radio but it does work. I've used it many times when that was the only unit available.

Here is the install instructions for the MINI:

You'll need to purchase the boost MFSW adaptor depending on the steering wheel setup you have. I'm not certain if there are restrictions on which headunits the adaptors will work with, but I'd imagine you could contact newministuff to find out. And yes, any competent hifi store should be able to install these adaptors without much fuss.

To bring this back, there might be a wire to connect the wheel controls...in my last rig, there was an additional wire...happened to be brown that I was able to connect my steering wheel controls up to the eclipse deck....the other options can have delays. Might want to check out a wiring diagrams.

the pac-swi doesn't work very well. how do you position the emitter to be aimed at the radio? the guy i bought my mini from has his pac-swi under the steering column.

I'm having a problem getting it to see the radio. Any suggestions?
