Champagne taste on a beer belly budget eh...

Just save your pennies and get the OEM iPod adapter as I doubt you'll find an alternative seing as the 2nd gen MINIs are so new.

So you want to have your cake, and control it from the steering wheel too?

But seriously...

There are other, non-OEM alternative iPod interfaces for the R50/53 cars, but nothing yet for the R56. So your choices are to either wait, or suck it up and fork over the mad monies.

You may want to do a search for "Ipod" on the forum, there are many threads that have discussions about the good and bad issues with the Ipod adapter.
Personally I had it installed in Skeeter and am happy with it, it is lacking in some areas, one being a good serch fucntion. So I suggest before
spending the money take the time and read as much as you can on the forum, will aid you in making a decision if the adapter is right for you.

I-Pod interface

Check out Moss Motors Ltd. They have an interface for the R56 that you can get for about $300. The PDF file with the interface does mention something about re programing the software and it does shoe a step by step installation process.

Do it the right way and spend the money.
It comes with a manual from BMW MINI and does quite a bit.
Aftermarket for such a great car just would not do it justice.
I figured I spent this much whats a little more.
