iPhone and Aux port

Does anyone know if the iPhone will work with the Aux port?
I tried it in the wife's honda and no go. I've heard that some people have shaved down the plastic sleeve on their cables to make their aftermarket earbuds work. Anyone have this working?
Thanks,
Jason

Either shave down the sleeve on the plug, or look on eBay for "iPhone adapter".

Ideally, for better sound you would connect Aux Input to the line out in the dock connector (instead of the headphone jack). There are cables that do this for regular iPods but they don't work for iPhone. I'm sure aftermarket vendors will come up with something.

Curious...which brand of cables work thru dock connector for regular ipods?

As always, input for sourcing items is appreciated however, I think ijcwmc40 was asking for connectors for the docking port to line out (for use with the Aux Input)... any ideas for sourcing this item?

Not positive, but I think it was directed at my original question.

FYI, a co-worker has the adapter from the first link and it's big. She uses it as a handle to hold her iPhone while watching video.
The cable in the second link looks like a better choice.

Thanks for all the response,
Jason

I'm not sure why this wouldn't work: iPod dock conector to 3.5mm cable. I think that's what you're looking for.

For ten bucks it's worth a shot, but I've got a SendStation PocketDock that works great with my Nano but doesn't work at all with my iPhone. I use a Belkin adapter in my Jeep and that works fine (charges and takes audio out from the dock connector, feeds into a tape adapter). My MINI has a Dension ice>Link: Plus (no longer available) and that also works pretty well (although not perfectly) in "iPod interface mode".

$10 iphone adapter for the headset at Apple Store. Made by Belkin and increases the length of the plug. What was Apple ever thinking

For regular iPods, I have one each of these (but they won't work for iPhone):

Belkin makes a connecter, it's $10 at apple.com

$10 is chump change for what I paid for the cell phone.. However, I got a $100 credit thank G-D!

I have the 3.5mm to iPod dock connector cable attached to my AUX input cable and my iPhone hooks up fine, but when I try and play music it just plays out of the phones speakers and not thru the cars speakers....what am I missing? Is there a setting on the iPhone I am missing? Thanks!!!
