OEM SIRIUS?

Has anyone recently purchased an OEM Sirius system from a dealer? I have seen some older posts, some with incredible discounts from list, but I have not seen anything recent. When I visit dealer websites, the prices still seem to be in the $500-$600 range (although they are throwing in a 1 year subscription).

While I have the MINI for 4 years, I just found/joined NAM and this is my first post...looking forward to learning and sharing.

I purchased ALL of the Sirius components from eBay for about $100 if I'm not mistaken. Then I went to the dealership to have them install. That cost just under $400. I suppose I could have done it myself, but still. $500 total.

I bought the parts from Classic for around $300 (I forget the actual price, but there's a 20% NAM discount, just ask for it and take advantage!). Knowing what I know NOW about how easy it is to install stuff (the MINI is like tinker toys, seriously), I would have done it myself, but I paid my audio guy $75 to put it in. He did it in under a half hour...it probably would have taken me a little longer.

Thanks for the replies. I have a request for quote into Classic. I installed my own Bluetooth (Parrot Evo...used harness adapters so I didn't have to cut chassis harness...very neat) so I was planning to do this too. I'll take pictures this time and post if anyone's interested.

It's not very hard; the trickiest part is the antenna, the rest is pretty much plug & play.

I too bought my OEM Sirius from Classic.
Save your money, don't go to the dealer to get it installed. I did mine in about 45 minutes myself. If you can do the Bluetooth, you shouldn't have a problem doing this at all. Its all plug and play.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Welcome to NAM!

None of which are the OEM BMW/MINI SIRIUS. Wrong thread, perhaps?

Tess, I wasn't trying to be rude... but you were comparing apples to oranges. It's a well-established fact that aftermarket satellite recievers are much cheaper than OEM ones, and also have extra features. However, some people still prefer (and pay for) the OEM solutions because they are seamlessly integrated.

Your question is a valid one, but it deserves its own thread - this thread was discussing OEM options.

I suggest you repost your question into a new thread!

My car came with OE Sirius for life; the antenna is in the fin/base of the regular antenna...
Comes with the HiFi and HD radio too.
Pricey but it was there and I just closed my eyes and signed the paperwork. It's just so easy now...
