Which speakers to replace?

If I were to only replace 2 or maybe 4 of the 10 speakers in my Hi-Fi system which ones would make the most sense? 6x9's in the door? Other?

Would love to hear your opinions!

Adam

I think the ones in back are 2 way speakers.

Good question. Can anyone answer this? All the literature states 10 speakers. I don't get my car for another few weeks so I can't count.

The rear 6x9s are dual voice coils.. arguably making each 6x9 2 speakers. The same confusion set in with the H/K upgrade in the 02-06 models.

Thanks Mike.
Any thoughts on whether those dual voice coil speakers would be good candidates for a swap out?
Cheers,
Adam

There are 6 x 9's in the back. Then there are 1" tweeters glued onto the plastic mesh screen. Thus, two speakers on eack side in the back. I changed out my 6 x 9's with Infinity Kappa's and it made a good difference to me. Out of all the speakers, the front two in the doors were the best quality. See my gallery pics.

Get a set of 3 way components to replace the fronts with. That was the first audio mod I made. The Focals I used sounded so much better than the stock speakers. They also put out quite a bit more bass than all the stock speakers combined.

Thanks for that! A couple of questions if you don't mind? What's Fat Matting? Also, do you need to keep the ohms at a certain level compared to the stock speakers?

Cheers,

Adam

Thanks for the advice? Is that a sub you've got in your boot (that sounds funny)? How did you decide on the boot vs under the passenger seat?

Take care,

Adam

Sound deadening material. Kinda of like Dynamat but less expensive.

you don't want to use speakers with a lower ohmage than stock but the stock are already 2 ohms so you should be fine with any speaker you choose.

yup, a 10" sub in a false floor. Two reasons for not putting it under the passenger seat. First - space. There is not enough room to put a 10" sub under there. 2nd - that is where my amp for my front speakers is.
