Navigation & AudioAudio upgrades, bluetooth, and navigation discussions surrounding the Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S (R56), and Cabrio (R57) MINIs.
I remembered reading somewhere (Apple offical site?) at the time when iPone was introduced that iPhone with be "compatible" with the car kit. Rather that means it will work as a phone or ipod or both remains to be seen. I will be getting the iPhone on the 29th and will give you all some feedback then.
This weekend BMW announced full support of the iphone and that it will work with the existing ipod adaptor and their bluetooth connection. I hope this brings the ipod adapter price down.
I have Bluetooth and nav and the adress book doesn't load from the iPhone. I have a few thousand contacts, so that could be the problem, has anyone else experienced this?

I have the iphone and an 07 mc with bluetooth phone prep. Phone pairs about 75% of time when I get in car but randomly drops the pairing after some period of time minutes to a couple of hours. Anybody else experiencing this ? Any solutions ?

I don't have my MINI yet, but I see this behavior in my current ride, an 04 Acura TL.
I found the same thing. I did a soft reset on the iPhone & it seems to have fixed it. You can do a soft reset by holding the power and hold button down for about 10 seconds until the apple logo comes up.
I have an iphone and a new 2007 mini with navigation. I found that I need to turn the bluetooth off on the iphone everytime I leave the car. Once I am in the car I turn the bluetooth back on.....the car seems to then pair with the phone and my address book is downloaded and recognized by the mini. With my blackberry the car just paired with the phone automatically. Still not a reason to give up the cool iphone though. Hope this advice helps. When pairing I found it took about 5 minutes for it to download the address book so be patient with the pairing after entering the passcode.

I think you mean the 'home' button (the circle button with the square in the middle) and not the 'hold' button.
I also came upon a thread in the Apple support forum talking about this issue.
