Title says it all.....I find it extremely annoying when browsing the forum that advertising pop-ups constantly fill my screen and slow down my computer. Please tell me there is a way to stop this insane annoyance!

Install Chrome browser and install ad blocker plus extension you will see the web in a new way.

 

Ad Blocker plus works with Chrome, FireFox and I assume Bing.

 

...and maybe download 'Malwarebytes' and see what kind of orneriness it sweeps out.

 

As others have suggested, it's probably not NAM itself, but some malware that has hitched a ride on your browser.

Here are a couple of free tools that will scan and clean your PC:

www.malwarebytes.com/products/ – click the malware product download, this will scan your PC for infections and clean them.

https://www.avira.com/en/free-antivirus-windows – Avira's free product does a fine job of preventing infections (I use the Mac version).

Lastly, if you are using a version of Internet Explorer older than v11, please please please please let Windows update you to v11 or to Edge (the new browser that comes with Windows 10). Or, try out Firefox, Chrome or Opera browsers instead. (Opera has a built-in ad blocker!)
