MTTS - Washington DC

Who is going to be in the DC leg? I registered for the MINIcross event on 8/6. I'm going to try to catch the group on the way from Philly to DC, or maybe take a ride from DC towards Pitt when it's time to head out.

Me! Me! Actually, I was thinking of going 2 NY and driving back down to DC, but I haven't registered 4 that yet. My original plan was 2 just hook up w/the group in DC, drive to Pittsburgh, and then come back home.

I am still up in the air as to specifics. Will hook up with the group here in DC and maybe drive to PA. Got to show off my new baby - a WC50 that I'm picking up this week

Myself & another Mini driver will be starting from NYC & going to do the entire trip to Denver & Winter Park. Anyone interested in a caravan, please respond. We can meet in NY, PHL, DC or PT or anyone else along the way.

I just signed up for the NYC to Pittsburgh segments. I will leave work in NYC and join the party on Thursday night, then head home and get up early to be at the starting line. Pittsburgh is my old home town so this is a great excuse to head back and see everyone. Also signed up for the MINI cross in DC.

The last time I was signed up for MTTS a few years back I came down with appendicitis right beforehand and couldn't make the trip. I am hoping to stay healthy this time !!

Hangin' out on Friday night !!!

Just registered for the MINIcross.

By the way, on Friday night (August 6th), some of us will be hangin' out at Union Jack's of Columbia, starting at around 6 pm. http://www.unionjackscolumbia.com/
They have really awesome happy hours !!!

Just in case there are MTTS participants in the area, we're looking forward to meet and chill out with you then.

Departure from Baltimore Hotel

Saturday morning there seem to be two options - depart with the group for Pittsburgh with a nice stop at Nemacolin in Farmington PA (my in-laws live across the street) or head to the MINICross.

I registered for the MINICross but am really conflicted now - because I am most looking forward to riding with the pack on the two legs I am signed up for. Heading out as a pack from Baltimore to Pgh - there is a better chance of keeping together than with folks dribbling out of the MINICross and maybe riding on their own - since that event is staggered all day.

So, I am really debating blowing off the MINICross so that I can ride with the pack - and the Nemacolin timed ride into Pittsburgh sounds amazing. I love that course (have done it 1000 times) but you need to be there during the lunch hour.

Can anyone help me? Having never done a MINICross, is it really a "do not miss" event that I will regret blowing off?

JB

The MINIcross event is basically an event that you'll be driving a MINI on a track setting up for autocrossing, with an instructor in the MINI with you.

We also registered for the MiniCross at Fedex but instead will join the Rise & Shine Rally to Pittsburgh. We will also join the casino event that night in Pittsburgh. Probably a Primanti Bros. lunch the next day, Warhol Museum and drive back.

Probably will leave the Zoo area of DC at 5:30am, or so, to have an easy drive to Camden Yards, Lot C, meet up location.

Please don't forget to swing by and join the fun at 'MINI Hangin' out at Union Jack's of Columbia" on Friday night.

I'm going to be in Atlantic City for my good friend's suprise birthday party, what terrible scheduling! I plan on complaining to his parents about the birth date.

Still undecided on the MINICross versus the ride into Pittsburgh - but will toss a coin Saturday morning. Both would be fun - but my in-laws live in Farmington across the street from the Nemacolin pit-stop and I know how great that road is for motoring... I just want as many MINIs with me as possible on those smooth rolling Pennsylvania hills !!

I'm flying out on vacation the afternoon after the DC run but I should be down at FedEx for the MINIcross event on Saturday morning with all my bags and things, then I'm heading straight to Dulles to fly away!

Does anyone know if we're driving our own cars for that or do they provide one?

Think I am doing Pittsburgh from Baltimore. I just got back from the Manhattan party tonight - and the special guest Countryman was there! A little tall in the shoulders but certainly up to the challenge of cramming about 48 fraternity brothers inside....

I am looking forward to community on the road - that is what I am most psyched about. So I will stay with the pack...

So, MINICross is almost out for me. I'd rater take a ride through the hills with a giant group, then play on the parking lot with a smaller group.
