Fireballed MTH?
so here's a kinda screwy q:
if i understand the MTH procedure correctly, with cartune you rip a copy of your current ECU, then send it to MTH and it is modified with their changes. if you get a new map from the dealer, again you send a copy of the (new) map to MTH and again they make their changes, so as to keep any improvements/updates that the new dealer flash might incorporate.
so here's my q, and i hope i don't step on any feet here:
I want to get the Fireballed flash, but with the MTH mods to the DSC. Seeing as how i live in IN and Tim is in CA, I am also somewhat concerned about Fireball Tim's current inability to do remote flashes, requiring a visit to the shop or a rendevouz somewhere they are going.
If cartune works the way i understand it, the "copy" of your ECU settings is keyed to your VIN, so it couldn't be used to rip and redistribute somebody else's flash anyway, so i'm not promoting any type of scam of that nature. i expect to pay both parties for their services, as is right.
MY Q is really two parts:
1) could cartune be used to preserve a copy of another aftermarket flash to restore in case the dealer wipes it and getting it replaced from the original source is inconvenient?
2) does MTH offer just the DSC mod, so that i could use cartune to send them a copy of my ECU once it has been fireballed, and have MTH just add the DSC improvement? while that shouldn't be as expensive as a full MTH tune, i expect to pay a fair price for that part.
I thought about posting this in the general performance section, but since so much of my question is MTH specific i posted it here. Mods if it needs to be moved i understand.
