Error: Order from MTH a Update, please?
I had no problems doing my own car with the old Software. The new Software seems to be the issue. If the Com Port setting was wrong, I wouldn't be able to ID the car correctly. I'm using the same Laptop and Cable, only thing different is the new Software. Am I correct in thinking the Com Port is correct if it ID's OK?

1.) CarTune version 1.1.16 -> 1.1.17
2.) Patch level on XP, SP1 -> SP2
I moved to a new laptop (Compaq) w/ a new operating system (Win98 SE) and all was good. I can't objectively say which was the problem, but it is starting to sound like CarTune 1.1.17 may be having a problem w/ XP at a certain patch level.
I,m using a Dell Inspiron 8200 with XP. You may be right on the Patch Thing. Other users aren't having a problem with older systems. There's some sort of conflict going on. I'm not that computer savey to figure it out. I'm hoping Volker can help.
Unfortunately I do not have the proper equipment to test the patch theory. If my Compaq would run XP (not enough RAM) I would give it a try. Before I installed Win98 on the Compaq I set the clock back to 2005 so that I could test 1.1.16 and 1.1.17 and they both run without issue. I would assume that someone with some time and the hardware could do the same thing w/ XP:
1.) Set clock back to 2005 before install
2.) Install XP
3.) Test 1.1.16 & 1.1.17
4.) Fully patch XP
5.) Test 1.1.16 & 1.1.17
That would tell us if this is a patch issue or not. Any volunteers?

OBD II USB Extension and Cartunes for MTH - not sure if this will be useful to anyone else but just got the cable from Don at precision-mini.com. Only laptop I have is super locked down one from work. Fortunately my wife's home PC is in a cabinet right by interior door to the garage. With a 10ft USB extension cable I was able to down/upload files from her desktop w/out having to worry about borrowing a buddies laptop... just something to consider in a pinch - it works.
