Error: Order from MTH a Update, please?

I haven't used my cartune for some time (about 4 months). I was getting ready to download my ECU files again from Bettie to send them to MTH for an update, and when I start cartune I get this:

I can only click "ok" and the program ends. I checked the German site and the US site and I don't see anything about an update being available. Any ideas?

Cartune runs for one year only. Customers do get a new version for free though.

I'd be willing to bet that you could just reset the date of your laptop back...

A new version is a good idea, but don't let it hang you up.

So I will need a new version to replace my NOvember 2004 version when I finally try to install the retuned image?

Have you tried to run CarTune since the begining of the year?

Send Volker an e-mail and he'll send you the new Cartune.

Thank you, that worked.

Anywho, I do have the update and it runs, but now a new problem. I am running this on a March '03 MCS. Here is the ID screen:

And here is the error when I try to download the car's data:

[ Please, select the correct car electronics ]

The only other R53 was the Siemens EMS 5150 and I received the same error with it. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I didn't receive the same error as you, but I am also having trouble with CarTune incorrectly identifying the ECU chip:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=58823

Is it possible that the newest version of CarTune is buggy? Mine is 1.1.17.2. Would someone be so kind as to send me an earlier version to test? The only other version I have is 1.1.16.0 from Nov. 2004 when I flashed my previous Mini, and its one-year term has expired.

My updated version is working fine - I've uploaded and downloaded three MINIs with it this week.

It is a bug but you can get around this. If you select the electronics option (Engine R53 with Siemens EMS 2K) from the drop down box before you do anything this error won't appear and the program will work correctly.
It took me a few tries to figure out but I finally got it to work that way.

I just got the update version just now.

I believe mine is R53 Siemens EMS 2k. But what's R53 TU with Siemens EMS 5150?

According to the Info section at the MTH-USA website, the Siemens EMS 5150 chip is used in 05+ Minis, whereas 02-04 utilize the Siemens EMS 2K.

Well I changed notebooks and OS

Dell -> Compaq
XP Pro -> Win 98 SE

and things work just fine.

1.1.17.2 AutoID the car as "R53 with Siemens EMS 2K" and downloaded just fine. Go figure.

Thanks for everyones support.

You've got PM.

Out of curiosity, when did you submit your files? I'm impatiently awaiting mine.

I'm also having trouble downloading files with the new version Carsoft. The incorrect car electronics message keeps coming up. I had no problem with the old software. Tried the pull down menu trick but no luck. Any suggestions?

Your best bet would be to exhaust all your available options - ie. try every single USB/COM port you have available, disable as many programs in the background as possible, and perhaps finally (or firstly - this would be my first move, anyhow) try another PC notebook from a friend, work, etc. Running through all the ports will probably frustrate you, while using another PC may just "miraculously" solve your problem.

Best of luck, and let us know if none of those solve your problem!
