Can a gas mileage file be created?
Can a gas mileage file be created?
By all accounts, MTH does a great job of creating a file that gains power maybe at the expense of gas mileage. Can they also create a fuel efficient, low performance file?
It may just be my imagination, but it seems like my supercharger starts boosting much quicker and at lower RPM's with the MTH file installed. In the winter, I don't much care about performance. Could I have a file created that shuts off the supercharger? Can MTH control the blow-off system in the car to give the efficiency of a non-S Cooper?

Here is a idea. You could load the .org file back into the car during the winter. But I like your idea too.
sorry I had to put my 2 cents in.

One of the members of Metroplexmini.org has what he calls a "lean map" from Franz.
He was telling me that he loaded it the other week when gas prices went up, but ended up taking it off for two reasons:
1. He was only saving about 1 mpg. That being said, he will readily admit that he can't "keep his foot out of it" and regularly gets in the mid teens for MPG.
2. His MCS turned, I think his exact words were, "Pig Slow". THAT being said, he usually runs the tuner map from MTH and loves it.
If it mattters, this particular gentleman is a MTH rep.

The best solution would be one that remaps the thottle to say, 50% actual at 100% pedal.

) would be to make a reverse VGS or ryephile fix. Those help the supercharger bypass close sooner or tighter. If a reverse "fix" could be made, you may be able to keep the bypass open longer.
It is not really feasible to create a special fuel saving file, as standard and tuner file are better on fuel consumption already (normally driven). But this depends totally on the individual car. It is also not advisable to lean out the car too much just to save a few bucks. That could cost you your engine when you get bad fuel quality. In my personal opinion, 8,6 l/100 km is not bad for a car with 204 BHP (my S with tuner file). A friend of mine is driving a ONE with tuner file and can hardly manage to go under 10 l/100 km. But that is only due to his driving style. If you always floor the throttle as he does, regardless if in town or highway, you can not expect good economy. Use higher fuel quality and your consumption improves, run an smaller rims/tyres for winter helps a great deal as well etc.
After all, we do have Chrysler engines underneath the bonnet (except the D with Toyota) and no high tech FSI and what have you stuff.
Just my 2 cents
