FYI:

Official NAIAS Website

January 11 - January 20 at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan. This is one of the best, if not THE best auto show in the country.

I love this auto show.

There is so much to see there that I like to spend all day there

Last year when I was done seeing everything on the 2 floors (Skipped the SUV's for the most part  ) I just sat in a MCS for about a half hour soaking it all in, because I knew it would be 9 months before I saw another again.

$12 bucks. That's not bad.

Mini is by BMW of course and across the carpet from Maserati/Ferrari.

I didn't even think, but is anyone from MCO planning on attending? It would be great if we could make this a mini MINI meet. I am thinking about going during the week, possibly on Monday the 13th or Wednesday the 15th. It's just TOO busy during the weekends.

I'm hoping to get some free preview week passes. Less people and kids around to get in my way. Otherwise it looks like Thursday the 16th for me.

Yahoo! I went to NAIAS last night and what a blast! There are so many beautiful cars coming out. Of course the first thing I want to do is visit the MINI set, but I was distracted by all of the other automakers in my way. Honda's new Element was actually better than I had envisioned. They had a silver one, very close to the MINI color, with tinted windows, and let me tell ya, it looked real good. There were more people around this car, than any other one in the show, besides the H2. (including the MINI I sat in the VW Turbo (their best model, can't remember the number) and I was unimpressed. I liked the head room, but other than that, not much to write about. However, I did like the covertible. It just makes my mouth water for MINI's version some day.

All in all the show is a winner. It's hard not to get excited about so much innovation. The American motor companies are definately starting to lead the way. It was interesting to see the change happening. One final note, Toyota has a new brand releasing calle Scion (pronouced Sigh-on). They have one sort of Minivan type vehicle and another that at first I thought was the Element. I hated this vehicle. It was disgusting, but I think it comes standard with a major sound system. It was attracting the 25> crowd. My brother who is 25 and a DJ, was loving the SUV(?). He thought that was the coolest car around. You can check it out at http://www.scion.com. The best thing I thought about it was how they passed out from CDs of some (okay) electronica music. I would suggest anyone who has the time to head on over to COBO Hall in Detroit, Michigan and check this place out. It was a blast and definatly something to see.

Here is the postcard from MINI:

A friend (an Avalanche owner ) mentioned that the MINI exhibit didn't seem very big...I told him that with cars that size, it didn't need to be very big.
