The SOOPERC rebadging especially gave me a smile!

But how does he manage to write a detailed ad, say "low miles" a few times and yet not even list the mileage on the car?! Must have a skewed definition of "low miles"... My guess is it has well over 100K miles on it.

Just saw this on eBay on offer from a Gerrman seller --- R53 MINI Challenge KW coilovers.
Asking $1,800 + $45 shipping.
A serious bit of kit.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/264301225603?ul_noapp=true
I like the early JOHN COOPER MOTORSPORT logo too.

I have listed my wife's MINI on Craigslist. Hopefully it will be going to a good home...

(Not mine, just looked like a good deal worth sharing. I signed a purchase order and put down a deposit just a few days ago on an International Orange special edition (I'll post an introduction after I take delivery). Then I signed into ebay and was taunted by this recent listing just about 60 miles from where I work. JCW 6-speed manual, still under warranty. Seller is motivated, they are moving again and not taking car with them. They responded to my text with "I hope I can sell this to another enthusiast or I'm just going to dump it to a dealer.")

Man, this is making me tempted to sell my 2006 S with limited slip, etc. What a great combo of features and low miles...

Sweet low mileage at 30k.
Wish they had a pic of the engine bay.
And I've never been a fan of those roof racks --- I think they require drilling so holes are in the roof panel?
Rear spoiler delete is not often seen but I kinda like the look of it without one...

I love CL deal threads, wish I had found this sooner. Maybe someday something will pop up within 1000 miles of me. Lurk mode: engaged!
Here's another JCW up in your neck of the woods MiniAndo...
...it's at a dealer, Will Dicker in Shakopee, and the price is on the high side, but it's a hard-to-find slicktop.
67k miles
$9,995
https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/d...899781272.html
:

Along with aero front and sides, it also has the rare alcantara/leather JCW steering wheel:

Have to wonder why it was debadged in the rear though?

It is weird but the PO did that to my JCW as well. Just the MINI badge was left. Still have the front JCW badge in the grill though. Trying to find a replacement for the rear but all I can find are for gen2 and newer.
It's kinda crazy what the Mk.1 JCW badges sell for new, but they are at least very well made.
and yes they are damn hard to find it seems.
They pop up with more regularity on the UK ebay so if you keep scanning there you may score a bargain, although most used rear badges I've seen lately have averaged £50, sometimes they go unnoticed and can be snagged cheap as chips:

That seller even offered international shipping which is somewhat unusual as many casual ebay sellers in the UK don't tick that option box and you gotta write them and ask if they're willing to send international and inquire the p&p costs if so.
I use
https://picclick.co.uk
when browsing for parts from across the pond and it makes scanning much easier.
If the Royal Mail was more affordable like An Post in Ireland it'd be great because used parts online in the UK tend to be much lower priced than the US but sometimes the shipping cost is ab-so-lutely insane.

I did see that one but got scared off of the price. What do the rare options bring the actual value up to?
There's also a JCW Coupe for sale right now. First I've ever seen. Also a BRG S Coupe. MN CL is actually chock full of interesting Minis right now. Just none of them are "drop everything and go buy it" cheap. I'm clearly being too picky.
RE: De-badging:
We took the P A C E M A N letters off my wife's car, (after changing it to PAC MAN for... far too many months XD ) but not the JCW badge. Still, I understand why someone would want to clean up the trunk of a Mini, it's a small car with a classic shape. In general I say to hell with model name and trim level badges, anyone looking at the car either already knows that info or doesn't care. That said "JCW" is more special than your average go-fast trim level.
TL;DR - I would have left the JCW badge, but I don't fault them for taking it off either.

You can never be too picky!
I can totally relate.
It took me 6 months to find a slicktop JCW and I finally found one here on the NAM classifieds --- rented a car drove down to mid Florida to inspect it and declined to buy due to paint issues. Two months later I was in the same area for work and it was still for sale and I was tired of looking so decided to go ahead and get it and just deal with the paint and get it resprayed eventually. I was able to bargain with price and it worked out well for me.
I constantly scan CL for cool parts or cheap mechanic specials but all too often the good stuff is across the country or if more local the seller doesn't respond to my inquiry,
CL can be pretty flakey.
I found one that is original R53 but the enamel is starting to fade and crack. Might pick it up and see about getting it re-enameled.

...speaking of ebayUK,
here's an interesting listing:

An impressive spec sheet there, but certainly not to everyones taste,
as it is, as they say, a bit Max Power over-the-top.
Max Power was a lads mag from the UK from the 90's which had a very Fast & Furious vibe and is now a descriptor used for such cars which may recall that pimp-a-delic vaderkit era.

I'd hold out for a better condition example.
Be vigilant and patient and you'll find a nice one for a good price.
There are also quite a few unused badge kits (51140301254) new-in-box still out there too.
I got really really lucky and found one of those for 25 bucks!

I don't really know and I think it's largely subjective and individuated by the buyer/seller.
But for the most part I think that rare factory accessories should usually add a certain value, but in many cases they seemingly do not.
If I was close enough to that car at Will Dicker, I'd go over and inspect it, as well as test drive it, and if I had the ready funds I'd toss out a cash offer for it and see if they bite.
I dunno how dealers evaluate used vehicle values these days, but I typed in the parameters for that car using the 55379 zip code and the NADA guide said this:

I'd use that as well as a bargaining chip if I visited the dealer.
Awesome info, thank you!
Admittedly being a gen-one newbie I'm guessing the slicktop is considered a desirable non-option because anyone ordering a JCW would also just tick the sunroof box to flex their wallet? Therefore there aren't many of them. Our R56 sunroof was a bit of a lemon so not having to deal with any of that nonsense would be welcome. Plus bonus points with the Autocrossers for the Colin Chapman spec. =P
Any way to tell if the JCW pack was installed pre vs post purchase? Looks like I need to re-read the R53 buyers guide and throw a cheeky offer at these guys. They are even ~15 miles away from my preferred Mini specialist for a PPI too. That might help drive down the price depending on what they find.
We need to stop buying black cars though... They look phenomenal... for the first 20 minutes after a wash. >.<
