Thank you MINI5280!!!
Thank you MINI5280!!!
I felt this desereved its own thread, as I now understand just what exactly was meant by the phrase
"MINI5280 holds a special place in our heart"
I wanted to extend my thanks to everyone who was so welcoming when I was in Colorado last week (would have posted this THurs. night but I've serious internet acess issues). Because of this astounding group I was affored the oppurtunity of being able to drive the Dragon of the West, have some amazing root beer (micro Breweries are the best!) and meet some of the nicest MINI people I've come across so far. I'd also like to mention that jsouz as most of you know him was even so kind as to allow me to drive his MINI for the night
(anyone at the event can vouch for the grins
)
The kindness of allowing me to drive the MINI for the night was something that I'm still at a loss for words to describe how kind jsouz is.
Now I wish I could give you a list of all the roads, but all of the twisties just had me too excited to look at the NAV unit. But I did manage some photos of the event. I was informed however that I was treated to a preview of MITM and well now I'm trying to figure out how to get back in August with Pearl (gas is a killer but where there is a will there is a way). I do know that if I lived in Colorado that I would spend all of my time driving the mountains.

I certainly hope everyone that attended will post up and take credit for being such wonderful hosts, and being king enough to share the wonderful scenery with me.
Thank you MINI 5280, I can't wait to come back
!

Thank you for all the kind words, we all had a blast! We really enjoy showing off our beautiful state and great roads, especially to other MINI owners. Look forward to seeing you at MITM!

Thanks for visiting!
Drew--
We all had a blast showing you a few favorite routes. Being in the lead, I had the occassion on tight "U" turns to look over my left shoulder and catch the wide grins on a few of the MINI drivrs behind me. Our 100+ mile round trip, dubbed "MADMEN" (Motoring After Dark MINI Enthusiast Network), was a kick in the pants! See the original thread here. The weather was perfect and the mountain air was cool and evergreen fresh. Wish we could have spent more time on the twisties/turnies. We hope to see you and lots of out-of-state MINI motorers and their copilots and passengers this August at MITM!

Drew, you are welcome anytime
After all, it is you that gave us a reason to GTG in the first place....so we did. Those guys and gals you met are all the regulars and we just get together and...Motor.
Please note that while we have 87 registered for MITM we HAVE extended the deadline to July 9th....5 more days.
BTW, I have your sunglasses, found them in my car.
And you can drive 'Silver' (Hi Ho Silver) anytime...she likes to be driven.
Thanks again,
Jonathan Souza
