Yes, the "MINIs AFTER DARK MINI ENTHUSIAST NETWORK" (MADMEN) are back out for the season. This year's inaugural ride will happen as follows:

• Thursday, June 29th, 5:00 pm OR SO. Watch this space.
• Special Guest is Motor On from NAM (down from Chicago, but MINIless) driving one of our own, local, WEBB-prepared MINIs...
• Leaving from the WEST side of town, C-470 and Ken Caryl, at the SONIC Drive-In
• Deer Creek Canyon to Conifer.
• Over to Evergreen.
• Up Squaw Pass Road towards and past Mt. Evans
• Then down into Idaho Springs for dinner. Yes, WINGS at the TommyKnocker Brewery no less.
• Return when good and ready

As one of the founders of the current iteration of MAD MEN, I invoke our charter. It clearly has only one rule:

THERE ARE NO RULES.

That being said, I hereby amend our charter to reflect, for 2006, MAD MEN being "Motoring After Dark, MINI Enthusiast Network". I second my amendment.

Yes, it is that time of year when the MADMEN come out of the closet. That being said, we have called for another fine FNC Friday Night Club ride as follows. And you and your guest are invited:

• Friday evening, November 10th (next Friday)
• About 6 pm or so (watch this thread)
• Special Guest: Ronald from Houston, TX. Many of you met Ronald this past August at MITM Copper Mountain. Remember the MINI that hit the Texas sized pothole out on the Dragon? The one that Ralph Schomp MINI stepped up and rescued? Yes, THAT Ronald. He will be in town.
• Ride begins at the Magnolia Hotel, 818 17th St. in Downtown Denver. From there, the ride heads west to the SONIC Drive-In at 17191 S Golden Rd. in Golden, CO. ( 303-279-2589 ) This is on the main road into downtown Golden from I-70 and the east. Or it is the main road eastbound as you head out of downtown Golden.
• From the SONIC we juice up on Orange Creme Slush and other goodies, then head for the hills.
• Dinner will be at The Rib Crib in Evergreen, 27905 Meadow Drive. Phone 303-674-4633. This is just off Hwy 74.
• Wanna go along? I expect to leave the Golden SONIC in the neighborhood of 6 pm to 6:30, so it will not be too early. If you need to meet us somewhere, I can work that out. If you need us to wait, let us know. Dinner by about 8:00 or so.

I still talk the Ralph Schomp rescue story to anyone that will listen to me. I was able to capture the rim killer hole, the tossing of the camera around and of course a few verbal comments as I hit that misplaced Texas SIZE pothole coming down Mt. Evans. I thought those kind of potholes only were allowed in Texas!
