HPR Free Track day(cars) - Wed. Dec. 28, 2011 (VIDEO)

SEE THE VIDEOS BELOW

High Plains Raceway is giving back again this year with a Free Track day for Cars and Bikes. Wed. December 28th, 2011 is for the cars. Several of us will be out there. If you had your MINI on the track, you get to get in for free.
Here is the link for the calendar.
Below is the e-mail for the announcement from HPR.

"Hello Race Fans,

Okay folks, we all know how the weather in Colorado can be, but based on the current weather forecast I'm gonna roll the dice and announce:

Wednesday, December 28th CARS ONLY OPEN LAPPING
Thursday, December 29th BIKES ONLY OPEN LAPPING

These days will be *FREE* and are open to anyone who was a customer of HPR at any time during 2011.

These days will be run according to the winter schedule
  • Gates open at 9am
  • Information meeting at 9:45
  • Track hot from 10-4, no lunch break
In order to better know who are customers are and to be able to get in touch with the proper people in an emergency, from this point forward EVERYONE who drives during an Open Lapping Day will be required to fill out our Lapping Day Participant Information Sheet. The sheet is linked below and will soon be available on the HPR website. Participants will need to fill out the sheet only once per year. Each participant will be assigned a unique number that will be written on your wristband each time you drive.

Lapping Day Participant Information Sheet

We'll see you at the track!!"

Count me and Scooter going out for a few laps, should be fun, but a bit cold in the AM.

Slow in the corners, as fast as I can peddle on Highway Straight.

In!!!

Do we need to bring any proof that we raced with HPR (like from Ladies Day?) or is there a deal worked out with the club?

I am in, just missed signing up on our calendar. Oh well!

I will bring along my air tank, just in case someone needs to pump up.

Your Ladies day qualifies you for the day.

It was fun, ask Rich about his GoPro camera, sad that the video was lost.

Air was used, it was around 52 and the track was mostly dry, except turn 2 which had a nice apron of ice into the apex. :-) People used it to advantage.

Today was open lapping and open passing anywhere on track, made for a good time.

Some pictures, some nice MINIs, some nice race cars out too. Not to much action, actually poor light in the afternoon shots.

Aww that would have been a good video - does the GoPro still work though?

Here's my "mini" adventure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uKPxw0Owp0

Here is some of the track video

BTW if you listen at the 2:41 mark with volume all the way up you hear the rear facing GoPro fall off the back.

Nice track video and driving, Rich! Wish I could have been there. Working during the holiday break sucks.

Here's my "mini" adventure:
You handled the spin really well. Nice video too, and the GoPro still works, just the SD card is toast and the case should be replaced, or I will use duct tape to hold it together and be an inside camera only now.

If you watch my video, you can hear a loud noise on the 1st lap, that was the GoPro letting go and tumbling off the back of Blu. Here is the picture of the remains. The case and the SD card took the brunt of the fall and both will need to be replaced, the Hero camera though is working fine.

Rich, I think I have a spare HD card for you, I like your idea of inside with duct tape.

Nice videos, someone should post Tom's lap in the NSX, he was part of us MINI folks, too.

Thanks - sent my parents the video and my mom was shocked by how calm we both were. She also didn't like the idea of me driving over 100 mph (this coming from the woman who has more speeding tickets than the family put together )

Glad to see the camera survived

Here's Tom's best lap:

That'll teach me to watch this section on the forum more often. I was going to let Rich burn off the rest of my Nitto's.

Glad you guys had fun though. Nice spin Noodle.
