MMOME 6 - Meet me on Mt. Evans 6
Joe says it's OK. We can go up Mt. Evans. As usual, the plans are for Opening Day (sort of like the Rockies, only different Rockies....) Friday May 28
Thanks
Jonathan
- Meetup @ 6:45 am - 7:00 am at the McDonalds, I-70 and Evergreen Parkway exit
- Leave for Mt. Evans @ 7:00 am via EP, Bergen Park, and CO 103 Squaw Pass Rd
- Gate opens (weather permitting) at 8:00 am. If not, then down Chicago Canyon to Idaho Springs for grub. And a ride. Wherever you want.
- Bring real warm clothes, camera, water, and more warm clothes.
Thanks
Jonathan

MMOME 6
_I added this event to the MINI Link iPhone app on 5/09, it is still showing up on the map in MINI Link. I tried adding the MINI Loveland event on 5/27 but the info will not stay in the system. The MINI Link iPhone app is pretty buggy still and I am not sure if it will ever be any good. I noticed AMVIV was on the map and a bunch of auto-cross days in Vegas were showing for the Sin City MINI Club. Any way, making plans to head up Mount Evans at the end of this month.
Keep your eye on the thread
We should know by Wed of that week if there is ANY chance the road will open. If they get serious snow this week then that kind of kills it...with only 2 weeks to clear. The Clear Creek Ranger District will know for sure..

As of this morning
www.COTrip.org still shows Mt. Evans Rd. (CO 5) closed for the season. The Clear Creek Ranger District could not provide further information. Watch the site daily for an update...if for some reason the road is not opened then we have other ride options.
Thank you,
JPS

I just did what JPS suggested and called the Clear Creek Ranger District at 303-567-3000, and a Nice ranger answered and said that CO 5 is scheduled to open at 8 am Friday, as long as the weather holds. She also said that they are clearing the road currently and as long as nothing big hits this week it should open.

Friday at 8 is the normal time
and there is always the issue of being open half way, or to the top. We should know by Thursday. There has never been a case of not being open at least half way.

Updated : May 26th, 2010 at 6:02 AM"

JPS, I'm staying in your part of town, so I could pick you up Friday AM.
For those that might want to try a euro plate on their MINI, here is the website I was talking about straight to the Colorado Euro plate.

I have heard that as long as the plate on the front matches the same plate number/letter as the back then they let it slide. So if you get this Colorado one and have it custom lettered to match your rear, you have a 95% chance of never getting a warning. I am going to get one, but keep my other in the boot just in case they say a word.
Here are photos I took and one video.

Looks like they had snow guard-rails this year.
You had some almost group MINI pictures....

My photos from MMOME 6, plus some shots from Sunday's All-Euro GTG, are in this Smugmug gallery.
Thanks for welcoming this CORN member! It was great to see everyone again, and to make the ascent during daylight. Can't wait to go back up!
