MINI5280 GBSHF Ride & Picnic 10/4
MINI5280 invites you to attend this year’s Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall (GBSHF) event. This year we will combine two of life's greatest pleasures (motoring and eating) in to one stellar event designed to celebrate the summer we had and the fall to come.
Sunday, October 4th—
10:00 AM sharp North side of Deer Creek Canyon just west of Chatfield (Map)
Drive up Deer Creek Canyon, over to Evergreen, up Squaw Pass and since Evans is closed ...
12:00 PM—Picnic at the home of Tim Vogel on Chicago Creek (Picnic).
MINI5280 will provide barbecue and drinks. You can bring a desert, cookies, watermelon or caviar. Be sure to bring chairs and a jacket.
Please be sure to sign-up on the club calendar (GBSHF) before October 1st so we can get a food count.

Are Newbies allowed to come along? We'll be moving to Fort Carson the weekend before and will hopefully have a place to live and a little settled by that weekend, we have an MCS 06 and an 08 Cooper
No better place to meet the MINI5280 club. Hook up with fellow Springers for the drive up and then enjoy one of the best roads in the state before some good bbq.
Hope you can make it.

We will be arriving in the Springs sometime this weekend, probably won't know who's from there till that weekend, unless they have a normal meeting place prior to going to the start. This sounds like a lot of fun. I grew up in Evergreen, but haven't been back since 89...lol.

So we can get an accurate food poundage I am going to close this event as of Thursday October 1st. If you're not on the list you can still come you just won't be eating bbq. Might be an opportunity to make Euell Gibbons proud.
Gawd- where did that come from? Does anyone remember Euell?

I guess we need a system. How about this:
If your last name begins with an even number (converting each letter into its corresponding number A=1, B=2 ... Z=26) and your license ends with an odd number (or any letter if it is custom) then you bring any desert item which is in the brown category. Now if your last name is still even but your license ends with an even number (no customs) then your desert category is anything except (I almost used "but" instead of "except" then thought better of it) brown. Continuing, odd numbered last names after conversion using the above process with odd license numbering (or custom) will be bring any fruit (except tomatoes) that can be easily eaten with one hand and/or a fork. The rest of you (odd numbered last name after converting and even ending license - no customs) will bring any melon that may still be in season north of Mexico.
OK?

or you could just bring whatever you like or think will go with pulled pork BBQ from Smokin Yard's BBQ in Idaho Springs.
Personally I like the above system if for no other reason then it has a certain engineering simplicity about it.
Really though just bring what you like and share.

Time Changed to 10:00 AM
Please note that since Mt. Evans is closed for the season we will start the ride one hour later.
Meet up at 10:00 AM near Deer Creek and Wadsworth (Chatfield). See map for a more exact starting point.

or, you could take her a BBQ pork sandwich compliments of MINI5280. We'll even toss in a high fructose corn syrup laden beverage in a to-go cup.
(That ought to counter-act all that healthy activity crap)

I think we should take Shadow Mountain Road...it's a left turn before you get to Evergreen and dumps you out just south of downtown Evergreen. Sweet road, took it last weekend...AWESOME!
See you guys Sat!

Maybe a movie or two.
