And you will just miss MITM4 www.MINIsintheMountains.com and yes, Ft. Carson is on the route for many of our rides. Can you say "Tweat me to some Twisties II?"
There are great motoring roads in your part of the state and we are happy to introduce you to them...

Hey Everyone,
I am David, Carol's Husband. I am from Evergreen, Colorado, but havent' really been back to Colorado but once or twice since I graduated, am looking forward to coming back. Have spent time in the Springs, but not for about 20 years, so it will be very new to me as well.
Can't wait to meet you guys.

We going to miss you two!!!! Now I got reason to leave real early for MITM. Guess I will have to find someone to crash in Columbia after our all nighters runs, meet n eats and coffee! All I can say been there the past 3 years and the area is beautiful and lots of great drives. I usually do Pikes Peak, the Valley Gods etc on the way home from MITM cut across to 287 down thru OK to Amarrillo TX for some steak at Big Texan. I will see you kids next friday for some food throwing!
yeah you betcha Lucifer!!! Colorado has no idea what they are about to meet.. when mah mini family from columbia makes a roadtrip to the mountains! I am only hoping someone has my sense of humour and adventure
Oh, and BTW...
we have our own 'Western Dragon' to introduce you to. 32 miles, at altitude. Formidable.
Further, and depending on the weather, Mt. Evans road may still be open.....14,246 ft up, paved all the way, nekkid. Come check it out.
The Dragon has nothing on us. We surf asphalt at altitude.

That's not funny Chuck...
Welsh if you haven't been to the Springs in 20 years, you are in for shock!
Not necessarily bad, but a shock none the less.
And for some reason commuters to Ft. Carson are in a huge hurry. Maybe it's Peterson Air Field, or Shriever?

There is something to be said about thin air
and that is that fleas don't like it and mosquitoes can't levitate. So we have precious few of either....tell the dogs!

Our dogs will love no bugs, so will we. I've always missed the mountains, nowhere quite like them, it will definitely take getting used to the altitude again though...lol. I've heard that the Springs have grown like wildfire since I've gone, along with my town up in Evergreen.

Carson isn't ready for all of these units on post. There is new housing (which has AC) and new barracks for all of the troops. There aren't any new schools and the commissary is terrible.
Good luck with your move.
hm.. luckily we don't have any small school aged children in the house... so schools are not an issue..
the commissary.. well I do my best not to grocery shop anyway lol, so I work around it.. someone posted or emailed to go to the AF commissary.. so it will be nice to check those out.. but there again.. there is always the economy.. and Im not sure Carson is ready for me.. but in order to leave Ft Jackson, I'll have to be ready for it.. the major difficulty in leaving is the thought of leaving my mini family.. many who have become more then just friends I motor with, many have become family, people I have grown to love, trust and depend on.. and as I know I won't be so far away from them.. it makes me sad to leave the east coast because of them. They made my days here much easier to bear..
