Hi everyone, I was going to go on this trip but it turns out I have a conference that overlaps - so I'm canceling my Yellowstone Lodge reservation for 6/6 (Queen room no bath) and also my Best Western Sunset Motor Inn (Cody) reservation for 6/5 if anyone is interested....

Should be done canceling Yellowstone soon (still on hold right now) and my BW reservation right after. Have a great time everyone!

Just catching up on plans, and confirming that I'm on for the trip. Wife and daughter joining the group for Saturday/Sunday.

But in reading Chuck's earlier posting I noticed the info above. 9 hours for 350 miles (without stops)? Is there a typo somewhere, or are we actually averaging 39 miles per hour for this leg??

What I meant to write was with instead of without. I usually do Denver to Riverton in just under 7 hours, but I don't stop except in Rawlins for gas.
So with lunch and a gas stop we should be in Shoshoni by 5:00 PM.

Phew... I was worried that everyone else had gotten a new MINI and would be driving according to the break-in guidelines (as I had to during the Castle drive)!

We're still on too; and Chuck you've already got (or should) our contact info, so I'm not worried.

We'll be at the meeting place bright and early, though as Christine's not a morning person... well, she might not be bright and shiny. Here's hoping for good weather on the trip!

Right now the forecast looks like a chance of rain the entire weekend. Highs for Yellowstone are in the 50s, lows in the upper 20s/low 30s!!

I am so ready for this (well not yet but by this time tomorrow I will be). I'm taking sweaters and a rain jacket, just in case. Sunscreen, just in case. A couple of bottles of wine to celebrate Alberta's b-day, just in case. A torque wrench, just in case. A gallon jug of water, just in case. Two radios and charger, just in case. Cell phone and charger, just in case. My radar detector - cause we'll need it.

For those with walkie talkies that can't do much talking (batteries dead) halfway through a long trip (such as this one), just bring a fresh set of 3 alkaline AA batteries (throw away type) to replace your rechargable battery pack, JUST IN CASE. Gets you back in touch and you can recharge the rechargables in the hotel later. This mainly pertains to the common Motorola and other brands that use a rechargable battery pack that is the size of 3 AA batteries. Or you can buy a 12V cig. lighter adapter for about $30 at Sportsman's Warehouse. This device is not generally found in other stores where the radios are sold.

Something we may want to keep in mind when we hit the road:

"Krispy Kreme Turns Friday Into 'Freeday' on June 5 - National Doughnut Day"

It's official. Checkout this announcement...

I know we're on a tight time scale, but:
  • If only our meeting place was the Krispy Kreme on C-470/Quebec
  • Only the 2nd KK in CO. Heading north and not too far east of I-25 on 120th Ave (1051 E 120th Ave, Thornton, CO 80233)
  • No Krispy Kremes in WY. Lots in Washington.
Those missing this trip have a good chance at the 2 Colorado location.

Mmmmm, doughnuts....

I wish all of you well on this trip, I do wish it had worked out for me and Pat.

I'm sure our room will go to good usage at OFI on Saturday night.

I do expect lots of pictures and a really great road trip report.

FYI, I had a great outpatient visit this week and all is good. Was not to sure, but good to go.

Don
