But extended the trip to cover west yellowstone and Montana.... so that the trip covers 4 States...instead of 3....
But we would really like to be able to stop by Grand Teton National Park...

 

Grand Teton is just north of Jackson so the route goes right through it.

I was thinking of going through Shirley Basin, but the drive though Muddy Gap & the Sweet Water is much more scenic and historic. I'm thinking the Casper contingent can meet us in Shoshoni.

 

Agree...........I think meeting in Shoshoni was her plan. I emailed her the proposed route.

 

Road trip planned:

June 5 - Comfort Inn at Buffalo Bill Village
June 6 - Old Faithful Lodge Cabin
June 7 - 49er Inn

We're very excited about doing this drive. I love Yellowstone and used to hang out there a lot while in college. It'll be nice to see some of my old haunts. Too bad the fishing isn't so good in June though!

 

I've only fished once in my life. It was on Yellowstone lake actually and while I did catch a fish I learned that you had to release it - the heck with it, never fished again.

 

Ah, but Chuck, people from all over world go to fish the Firehole. Mind you I just like to eat them. And they won't really let you soak in the Firehole any longer. Makes me wish for my college days.

 

Yes, I will meet up in Shoshoni. I am so excited!!! Is there another woman driving solo who would like to share a room?

Boy O Boy this sounds like a bunch of fun.... Wish I could come along from Oklahoma but I'll just have to wait for some pictures to surface.

Finally made some reservations. Finished up just before heading out to our Post Holiday Dinner.

Cody: Best Western Sunset Motor Inn
Sat: Yellowstone - Old Faithful Inn (lux - had to have a shower)
Sun & Mon: Lake Yellowstone Hotel - Lakeside view w bath. (yes, wimp, I know).

Not going down to Jackson with the group, going to hang around the lake and park a bit longer.

With a fall wedding reception and general everything, we figured we will not do Glacier NP this year.

Hopefully we will get to see an hour of Cody in the daylight.

Since I'm in Bozeman I'd love to cut in for your section through Yellowstone! I may be working at the time but if I am around I'll write to you and get the details of when you'll be headed through the park!

I finally got all of our accommodations booked. We will be leaving a day earlier on June 4 and return from Jackson Hole on Tuesday, June 9. Might as well make it worth our while!

June 4 and 5 Big Bear Motel in Cody
June 6 and 7 Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone Park
June 8 49er Inn in Jackson Hole

Here's hoping that Yellowstone will not blow up before then!

Gosh...if only this trip were planned for next year (2010). Hubby and I will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary with a trip to Yellowstone from WA, haven't decided on a month, our Anniversary is in March, so no trip to Yellowstone then, will wait 'til later in the year. Sorry we're going to miss this run...You All have a fabulous time and take time to stop for pics. Remember you have to share!!

 

Well Ms. Kimbell, perhaps we will make this an annual thing (depending on how many are eaten by bears this year). Then you can meet up with us and celebrate your anniversary with a bunch of MINIs and geysers.

Hey 1der... and the rest of you MGTY peeps... I've been lurking this thread for a looooong time... pondering on the dates, my timing, can I get a co-driver, etc??? I'd be coming from Minneapolis... prolly on my own, not to give you false hope, just thinking... on being a solo female, driving from Minneapolis...

Sounds like a wonderful drive, beautiful scenery... and I'd love to join, but I am still waiting on how some things will settle out in my personal life timing wise and, wondering if I really want to do the solo drive to meet up with you all.
