MINI Thunder III Schedule & T-Shirts
Here is the MINI Thunder III trackday schedule for Sunday Feb 19, 2012. This schedule is subject to change and may be modified during the day due to unforseen delays on track. Please note as we have it set up now, there will be 4 groups, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Coaches/Race Prep. Each group is scheduled for 5 ea - 21 minute on-track sessions, plus classroom instruction.
And here are the mock ups for the T-Shirts. T-Shirts are being pre-sold. Let me know via PM if you want one, need name and size. If you are entered you should already have them on order. These are spectators and guests.

How many people are signed up for this? I haven't been out to Thunderhill in a long time and since there doesn't seem to be any Mini meets in Nor Cal this looks like a good opportunity to meet other Mini/auto/track enthusiasts.
Do people that aren't tracking also show up to this? Is it family oriented so I can bring the wifey and kids?

Yoda,
Last year we had 104 entries, this year we hope to get 120. We have about 80+ so far including coaches so I think we will get 120. It's open to everyone with a MINI/Mini. You are welcome to bring guests and kids. If you are coming as a spectator, you will have free admission. If you have a MINI/Mini you will get free parade laps and join us for the BIG photos shoot. You wil also be able to take "demo" rides with coaches or guest advanced drivers.
If you wish to do the track day you can sign up as a beginner, intermediate, or advanced, or race prep. The cost is $199 and includes lunch and event T-shirt. We will also be holding our Casino Night on Saturday night and pre-registration. Those that want event T-Shirts and are not entered will need to let me know name and sizes. I will have to figure a way to get the payment.
Hope that answers your questions. You can send me an email or PM.

Just signed up for this. Anyone else from NAM attending. The registration list shows a fairly wide variety of locations from which people are coming from. However, it doesn't look like a huge topic here. I think it looks like a lot of fun. I have a question for any that has done these "track" days. Do you buy the insurance? Do you see a lot of people running over others or are the crashes driver error?.... meaning they wreck their own car compared to some yahoo running into you.

Daiseyhead R55,
Thanks for the post. Thisevent is MINI Thunder III and we have run MINI Thunder II, MINI Thunder and a previous Mini track day so we do have history under our belts. To date, we have never had any accidents or collisions. Safety is our first concern and we operate with experienced and qualified coaches and instructors.
Although most entrants do not purchase individual insurance, it is available. MINI Thunder has been approved as a qualified organizer, therefore you can purchase insurance for our events if you wish. This insurance is provided through Lockton Affinity Insuance Co. For more information go to: http://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/Default.aspx
We do have coaches ride with ALL Beginners. We have turn workers, and classroom sessions after each on track session. Intermediates may have coaches ride with them and often do, especially in the early sessions. Coaches are available all day to all drivers. Any drivers that exhibit unsafe driving will be excluded from the event.

Excellent. Sounds like I can get by without the insurance. I like that it is available but I am on a bit of a budget and was lucky to get the nod to attend. I thought if most were getting the insurance It might price me out. So Thank You, I am looking forward to ripping, (safely) my wife's clubby around the track.

Or will they be available for rent at the track?
And don't forget to do an inspection on your car just to be safe.

First time on the track with my wife's car. I have raced a little here and there, most of my track time is at Infineon but again, not in my wife's car. If I scratch that thing I think I am going to report myself as a missing person. My helmet is SA2000 so I am good there, thanks for the heads up.

Other than spectating is there anything for the guests to do while I'm not on the track? I was thinking of inviting my mom but I'm worried she will get bored. I just don't want her to travel 5 hrs just to be stuck watching minis drive around a track all day.
Thanks
I cant wait!

"Remember that all MINI/Minis are welcome to come out to MINI Thunder III. You are invited to join us with free admission to spend the day at Thunderhill Raceway Park. Bring your friends and your kids. Roam the paddock and the track, sit in the grandstands, watch from various locations around the track, bring your cameras. Get a feel of what it’s like as you watch fellow Mini drivers hone their driving skills. We will be offering Demo rides throughout the day for those that want to get the real “up-close & personal” view of the track. We will also include those MINI/Minis with our parade laps & photo shoot at lunch. Thunderhill Grill will be open all day for food & drink. So come out and see what it’s all about."

This is great news. I was waiting to time my leave around a MINI event! I'm taking a month in the states and will definitely be at Willow Springs. I suck at heel toeing but I'll still be there.
How much is registration? Sorry if it's already posted as I didn't have time today to browse through. Just blindly posted.

VTwin Power,
It is $199 for single entry or $275 for shared entry (2 drivers/one Mini). This includes your track day, 5 ea 21 minutes on-track sessions with coach, 5 classroom sessions, event T-Shirt, lunch, parade laps at lunch, and group photo shoot. Track Opens at 7:00AM and first Minis on track at 8:30AM.

If you come up on Saturday night we will be holding pre-registration and our casino night from 6:00-9:30PM.
For casino night we bring in a company that provides gaming tables (poker, craps, black jack). We give each entrant MINI Thunder dollar$ (play money $500) and you gamble. There will be a table of donated vendor prizes and later in the night you will use your winnings to bid/purchase those prizes. No real money involved.
Thunderhill Grill will also be providing dinner and no-host beverage service at an extra charge, paid directly to them.
