****SOLD****Brand new / Never installed Mid Wing for Gen 1. Supposed to be for R52 but I have held it up on my R53 and it lines up perfectly. Bought with the hopes to give the MINI a unique look but it's too big for my personal taste. I had it professionally painted in black with matte finished clear. Looks great but looking to pass it on to a fellow enthusiast with a more 90's taste. Looking for $400 shipped and price is pretty firm considering I paid $300 plus shipping for the wing and paid another $150 for it to be sprayed. Paypal only and must be friends and family or add 3% to the payment. Message with any questions.

How does it mount on your r53?

 

I believe this mounts with adhesive tape and anchors. It's not heavy but I wouldn't trust body molding tape alone. It comes with no hardware so it you will have to get creative. It's recommended by the manufacturer to have a body shop install since you would need to drill the body and seal up.

I would personally make custom butterfly anchors and that is what I planned to do. Just get the right size anchors, get a threaded rod that fits the anchor and some washers and lock nuts. Cut the threaded rod down to be long enough to make it through the body to the wing. Insert anchor mounted to threaded rod into the wing and then put into holes on boot. Use washers and lock nuts to secure. Obviously you'll want 3M body moulding around the touch points on the wing to help secure and keep water out. Seal the hole with silicone inside the boot lid.

been looking a mid wing but more of a lip. Not so much like the rear wing.

I never mounted mine so I can't send pics. I did have the wife hold it on (before painted and everything) to see what it looks like. It looks good but too big and 90's esque for me.

 

Worse comes to worse. I'll use it. I have a lip extension for the OE roof wing which would help to make the mid wing look like a better accessory.

maybe like a roof spoiler type would fit. Might help with the dust turbulence accumulating on that glass lol

 

I though I was the only one bothered by that . My tailgate window is CONSTANTLY getting dirty . I've made it a routine now to wipe down the car when ever I park it in garage.
