why is the snout opened? Was there noise or anything. I just can't figure out why that would be open unless there was a problem, because as soon as that's been opened it has to have a rebuild. Also, I've heard setting the timing for the rotors is actually kinda tricky. I'm still interested as a project, but it seems like it's gonna cost some cash on the back end.

 

That's not the snout, that's the PTO side of the supercharger. It was opened to ensure the PTO gears weren't dead. The driver snout has not been touched.
