FS:: M7 "Group 4" Exhaust "Rare" Feeler?
Category: Drivetrain
Price: $1
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (you may select multiples): R53
Location (Region): SouthEast
Item Condition: Used
I called M7 this morning and spoke to Bill Long that mostly confirmed some of this as a competition exhaust that was in fact in rare production for competition purposes. (M7 currently of course has no affiliation with the original design from what I know, and was told they were unsure if this was the normal "Powertone" built product. However, since it runs straight down the center, they assumed it was NOT.
Exhaust runs down the center of tranny well, with a single muffler and does have the resonators pulled. (It is insanely loud, but the "pops and gurgles" are spectacular sounding.) He also mentioned battery box had to be modified to allow for install, but cannot confirm that yet. (Will get some pics up this afternoon or in the AM at the latest.
With this said, looking for something still aggressive, but not to this scale and considering running with a Milltek or similar.
Interested in a possible trade or to sell outright, also any interest to know more about this exhaust.

Do you know if it requires ECU remap or can it be installed on stock r53 without any mods?
Everything the original M7 Made is rare, seems they would make something, make a few test units and abandon the product/idea. They made some truly neat things, but very little ever came to be Products.

Good morning all. I failed to get pictures up yesterday and apologize. Vehicle is backed into the garage with the ECU pulled and en route to California for tuning.
I will get some going today if we have to manually push the vehicle out of the garage...
Bit more background. (Per previous owner) Exhaust was installed 3 years ago
As mentioned, my goal is to replace it with a quality exhaust without a "competition" sound to it.
Will get pics up shortly.

Previous owner did send me a picture he had taken. Exhaust has been on the car a few years from what he described, so might be older than some might want to invest in. None the less, here is a single pic with more of the tips and such to come shortly.

That picture is from roughly a week ago. I will get under the car this afternoon to see what else I see and get you some additional pictures.
I honestly could not guess the value, since it has been on the car for a 3 years and being a more limited run item.
Let me take a more detailed look at it this afternoon and will shoot you more pics as well as any imperfections I might find in it.

I don't know if this helps you price it or not but I dug this thread up and it looks like the M7 exhaust was around 729-799 new.

Not sure if this was an original prototype before PowerTone started mass production or what....
Either way, open to offers on it as just looking to replace it. Obviously a local pick up is preferred.
Sorry again for the delay on pics and video, been tough with it backed in, and ECU still in transit.
My most sincere apologies for the delay in this. We had some ECU issues, but it is now in car, and was able to pull out yesterday. The shots are of the exhaust and car in a filthy condition, but wanted to get some shots up right away.
Obviously, if a party is interested, would have it pulled and polished as well as possible. I did wipe the tips down this morning before coming into the office, and they look virtually new.

OK, I helped out with the "original" G4 R53 exhaust. The "original" G4 R53 exhaust DID run straight back, ran straight under the battery box, it was fairly (really) loud, unbeLIEVably fantastic backpressure-burble-pop, and generated somewhere around 14hp. It also saved over 20lb static weight. It didn't require a tune, but did benefit from one. It did require you either put heat shielding between the exhaust and battery box or relocate the battery. Over 14 prototypes were made, of which >10 were on my car. I ran it for many, many thousands of miles before changing the car back to a milder JCW exhaust for the street.
...but those pics are not an original G4. I'd suspect another brand.
