I'm in the process of rehabbing a high mile 2003 MCS I just bought (my first mini). Next on my list of repairs is replacing the torn front strut mounts and it's a job I'd prefer to do only once. So, I want to go with something a bit more stout than stock.
Seeing my finances tighten with every unplanned repair, I figured I'd see if anyone here has a deal for me. I'd love a set of used IE fixed plates but I am willing to consider any aftermarket set or even some coilovers, if the price is right.
So, if you have anything you think I'd be interested in please let me know its condition and what you'd like to get for it (shipped to West Bend, WI 53095).
Thanks!
Whatever you do, do NOT get Monroe replacements. Purchased 4 of those for my and daughter-unit's R53, and 3 tore within 500 miles, turns out the rubber bondign process was done on rusty metal!
Loemfoerder from Rock are good, OE are better, IE fixed (using BMW 3-series bearings IIRC) are better still - and may actually be worth the investment. IE adjustables should be avoided unless you want to do some fab work. I wish I had some to offer, but can at least offer some advice!

Cheers Dixon!
Thanks for the advice! I had only read horror stories about factory style replacement mounts. It's good to hear the Loemfoerders could be an option. For now though I'll hold out hope that someone here has something I can put to good use.

If you're restoring stock strut bearings, Lemfoerder from say Pelican Parts are a good option. I have a set of BURLY billet monoball Webb Motorsports/Perfect Power camber plates if you want camber plates. They're on the marketplace.
Also, regarding the stock route, Sensen shocks are under $200 for the set of 4. They're ISO9000 rated and you can get them from amazon. I have a set on my Toyota 4Runner and they're firmer than stock but street able ride quality. H&R Street coil overs are pretty great, because once you go with sport shocks and springs, you're close to basic coil over cost anyway. H&Rs are TUV approved and really well made. My .02¢.
I have a used set of Madness reinforcement plates and a lightly used set of IE fixed camber plates in great condition.

Many thanks for all of the offers and advice!
I've made a deal, with yet another very helpful forum member, for a set of used IE plates and H&R coilovers. They should be arriving before the end of the week!
So, if anyone else has been browsing this thread looking for any of these pieces feel free to contact anyone who has offered up their parts.
Once more, thanks again for all the help. So far my experiences with the members of this community have been the best part of owning a mini and that means a lot.
