Unclear License Plate Ticket

Hello MONJ,

Just to warn you all that you can get a ticket for having a dealer frame around your license plate...did I put it there? no, it came with the car. The officers comment was that the frame cannot be obstructing any of the lettering of the state. Mine only covered the top of the J in New Jersey. 99% of the cars I see on the road have a dealership name tag and/or on the license frame itself. So, this morning I took those frames off out of my mini and my wifes mini-van...

Be careful out there. They are running out of reason to pull you over and give tix...

They were doing that in NYC for a while a few years back, they just gave up, too many silly tickets, it seems like the pull you over for anything lately.

NC recently changed their laws to require slimline type frames. Again, the purpose was to make sure the name of the state was not obscured. The reason given down here was so that the cameras on the new toll road could capture an accurate picture of the plate, including the issuing state.

I always take those and the decals off my car as soon as I get it home. Why should I advertise for the stealership?

I'd bring the ticket to the dealer and say pay it now.

Attorney Time

I would be on the phone to my attorney going after the dealer. Sorry dealer, you have deep pockets, fix this one or else.

Record

And if you ever get stopped immediately hit record on your phone to record what the office says. He will screw up don't worry. But have the audio please. Worth its weight in gold. Learn to record anything and everything on the fly and practice. I have Dash Cams to record audio and video of everything too. See www.blackvue.com or www.blackboxmycar.com it works.
