HPDE near Norther NJ

Back in April my Fiance` gave me an IOU for some driving lessons. I just need to find a place. Any recommendations? I want to, obvoiusly, drive the mini around the track. I would be interested in AutoX or a road course.

Thanks

You can always look into Bertil Roos which is at the Pocano Raceway or Skip Barber which is at Limerock Park..

GOOD LUCK!

Try a car club track day at New Jersey Motorsports Park. NASA, Porsche Club, BMWCCA, and a host of others are always holding driver's education days, and the tracks are much nicer than Pocono (where Bertil Roos operates).

Second for NJBMWCCA events. Checkout www.njbmwcca.org.

Farther than Pocono or NJMSP, Summit Point and the various tracks at those facilities are awesome. The club is holding an event in a week at the Shenandoah track and is offering some discounts, so check it out. I have been on that track and can honestly say that it is a very fun track for the Mini. The event also has an opportunity to get on the skidpad on both days which can be an eye opening experience.

The NJBMWCCA is also running an event for beginners at NJMSP in October.

Both of these are great beginner events, are relatively low cost, will give you plenty of seat time and excellent classroom instruction. They are also held in relatively low cost areas, so hotel and meal expenses can be minimized.

Lastly, I can't stress enough how the culture of safety at the events held by the BMWCCA clubs will make you and your significant others enjoy them that much more.

Enjoy and don't forget to have fun.

Regards, Ricardo

PS. They also hold very well run and fun autox events, check out the site for more info. Instructors will be happy to show you the way around the course and provide as much or little tutoring as you like. The time and dollar investment is also very modest compared to a full track event.

Thanks for the info. I was about to register for the NJBMWCCA event on october 18th when i realized that it is on a monday and we have a major go -live at work on the 19th :-(.

Do you think they will do an event in November. The price is perfect at $125 for first time students. It is a little far away...but maybe i could drive down the night before and go stay in Atlantic City :-D

I don't believe that there are any events scheduled for November, but check the site. There is an AutoX scheduled for this Sunday, 9/19/10, at the PNC Bank Arts Center (116? on the GSP).

Drivers choice, but I would highly recommend at least 1 instructor run at the beginning. It will increase your enjoyment of the day immensely if you can at least get around the course (easier said than done). You just need to show up early, you can borrow a helmet for your runs, and just get to know the folks, they are very approachable.

In the spring, the club usually holds a dedicated AutoX school which is always well attended and sells out early.

Look up www.motorsportsreg.com as they have the schedules for many of the local area clubs. You can search by geographic area.

flyingace2000,

A number of us Minis will be running Monticello, NY Oct 4. You can track your car and also ride with us for a session if you want. Monticello is not cheap but it will be one of the last times you can run there w/o forking over $125 K for a membership plus some annual dues.

What is the info for the October 4th run? Your right, I'm looking on their site now and this place is unaffordable for those who aren't making a salery that allows for Ferrari collecting:
