Extended warranty

Does anyone have any experience with a extended warranty policy on the MINI, with either the dealer or other company's offering them...seems like the cost is high, but so is the cost of repairs, once out of factory warranty....

I've not had any direct experience but I did check out the WarrantyDirect people. First thought was that it was a bit high, but after thinking about it, it didn't seem so bad. They were quoting me $2500 for an additional 4 yrs or 100K miles. That only equates to 5 or 6 new car monthly payments so that I can enjoy my MINI worry free for quite a bit longer.

Hendrick's quoted me $2100 to 6/100,000 I have to check what the differences are in the coverage. I plan to keep the MINI for a long time. My Honda has 235000mi and still going strong..so I keep a car till it dies.

That's not too bad considering one major repair could set you back that much. A point people have brought up, too, is that they feel safer using the factory extended warranty over an aftermarket one because they know BMW will be around to stand by it. If an aftermarket place goes under, you're probably SOL and just out the money you paid out. I also think BMW wouldn't be as quick to try and deny a claim as another company would be.

Like I said, I've been looking into the various things offered too. I just haven't decided which way to go yet, though I'm leaning towards the factory set up.

I've talked to Century MINI about the extended warranty.. $1,900 for 6 yrs, 100k miles... I still have 23,000 miles to go before my current warranty expires, however, after the last (also the first) bought of repairs, I'm seriously thinking about getting it, even though the price is a little steep..

Can't recommend who to go with but...........STAY away from Warrant Gold. Court action takes place in Texas and the "money" is (was) in the Caymans. Thousands of us got hosed a few years ago. Google "Warranty Gold". They just middle man the insurance, they're not responsible for the lack of funds.

The settlement was NOTHING.

Still in business, new letter head. Do your homework!
If your in Ca. rest easy. They haven't been allowed to do business there for years.
