NC, SC, or GA Amusement Park Event

There are ramblings on the PKI thread about having an amusement park event here in the South. Nothing has yet been determined, so please post your preferences/thoughts here.

I perfer that the event be held at Six Flags in the fall when the weather has cooled a bit.

Sounds like a great idea. Thanks for getting this started.

I like the idea of the fall with the cooler weather.

My vote would be for Carowinds, the reason being that it would be closer for most of our members to attend.

We might be interested in another such event (and glad someone else is willing to coordinate it!) but I would vote for one of those in Va., either Busch Gardens or Kings Dominion. We love the Williamsburg area, especially in the fall and this would give us the perfect excuse to go. If you've never been, it's a wonderful place. There are so MINI things to do there!!!

YIKES! Hold on there pardner. I was not volunteering to coordinate an event, I was just starting another post for people to have a place to discuss one. I live in upper SC and am too far away from Six Flags, Busch Gardens, Carowinds, or Kings Dominion to do any of the planning.

Once a park has been chosen by the masses, someone who lives near the park should do the coordination since they would be more familiar with what is available [and reasonable] in the area -food, lodging, etc.

My $0.02 - The PKI event was 'up North' in Ohio, so now it's time to have an event south of the Blue Ridge mountains. As in NC or GA.

Agreed.. once we decide on a where... we can get the club closest to it in on the planning and get it done by people who live in the area.

I just joined the AtlantaMINIs but I have a feeling a lot of people there would love to do this

I'm for six-flags. Some threads have already noted it would be great to get this thing together. What with easy communications via boards, email, cell, land-lines I think at least a single member from the individual groups of interest could make a viable steering committee to get it done.

Just think about it; however, action needs to be taken soon to get this together.

I'm with Eric on a Williamsburg trip. Never been. And Busch Gardens looks like they have some really cool rides... and Beer Free Beer Samples I think. How many times can we go on that ride?

Cheers,
Keith

The free beer samples are at the brewery, which is nearby they do do tours as well.

They make you pay for beer in the park, that is for sure.

Williamsburg is nice in the fall.

Either one would be fine with me. Carowinds is closer but I think 6 Flags is better (though there's fun to be had at either).

On a side note, the DC MINI group is starting to talk about a Williamsburg trip. There's been no details or even if it's going to be open to outside clubs, but I mentioned some of us might be interested in joining in, if they didn't mind. We'll have to wait and see how that develops.
