I have had several members complimenting me and encouraging me to get involved in our club during the election process this fall.
It seems many are ready for a change.
Thanks for encouraging me and for expressing your confidence in me. I believe I just may seek a greater involvement!
I certainly encourage collaboration and open discussion.

Glad to hear it, Tarzan.
I encourage anyone and everyone who is interested in the club to get involved by standing for office. I'm sure many people are ready for change; most particularly the current officers!
Now which office are you running for?

Tarzan,
Why don't you run for President? You have a very solid opinion and not afraid to voice it! I think you'd be a great President!
In fact, I 1MiniGrl being of somewhat mind and body, or lack thereof in one field or the other, nominate Tarzan as President! Do you accept the nomination Tarzan?
I only ask one thing, can I be Cheetah????

Great!
I had become the nominating committee by default and was rather dreading it: It’s usually a pain to find officers to run for organizations such as this. It’s good to see some voices speaking up, volunteering to get down to the serious work of running the club.
I’m not yet sure of the election details, but the current officers have suggested that nominees should provide a position statement that explains why they’re running and what they stand for. This is not meant to exclude anyone, just to explain why members should vote for you. Hold on to those, though, until we establish the proper forum.
We’ll work out the details soon and post there here for all to see. Again, thanks for volunteering.
Tarzan, I know that the club president, vice president and the Charlotte chapter vice-president have all indicated that they will not stand for re-election. Which office are you seeking? Of course, you can stand for any club office, but so far those are the ones that need to be filled.

I'd like everyone interested in this club to do 2 things:
Visit dc metro mini's site and forum here on nam
Visit atlanta mini's site and forum here on nam
You'll get a great idea on the vision of their club and how it works. And they have alot more FUN!

OUCHIE!!!!
As I have so voiced before, I am willing to continue as Treasurer, besides, I still have mods to do on my MINI!
Much as I hated giving up publishing the newsletter, Debi is doing a GREAT job as interim secretary.
and hopefully she would like to retain that position into next year.
Both Kevin and Lee have had a tough job on their plate trying to get the "legalities" of the club in order, and therefore have been subject to a lot of criticism because of their vision on how to accomplish this task..
I do feel that Twister has a good point of looking to other clubs and seeing what they have accomplished..
Maybe the nominees should put forth their vision as to where the club should head next year, now that this years goal of getting the bylaws and incorporation accomplished seems to be close to a reality..

Wow folks! We need to take a few deep breaths here--I thought we were all one big happy Carolina Mini family. I guess like all families, they'll be gripes from time to time.
Ed, I agree with you.

Since taking over the secretarial functions, I've really come to know what both these guys do behind the scenes. I can't complain. They're tackling the legalities so we can get them out of the way and they've fostered many KEY relationships for the club.
Mark you've done a great job with the website. It looks super. I noticed that you commented about the statement for running for office. That was my idea that I submitted. I've been an auto and motorcycle enthusiast all my life and I've been quite active in different clubs for the last nine years. Most clubs ask for this. It's a way of letting the members know who you are. We all know you, but does the rest of club. When the ballots go out for voting, folks need to know who they're voting for--not just a name. We don't need to know your profession, age, income Heck I don't even like photos--I think they contamenate the process and besides I never take a decent photo Example--My name is ____, I'm from wherever, I've been an avid MINI enthusiast for ____________years. I've been a member of the club for _____ years; I own this type of MINI, and whatever else you want to say. Personally, I participate in other clubs as well--I might mention my experiences, I restore classic motorcycles--I might say that. Just something so folks know a little bit about you. I don't know about you, but I always feel awkward when I have to vote and play the eenie, meenie game. I hope you'll warm-up to this idea.
Cheers,
Debi

I don't like removing threads, but maybe this one needs to go. Just my 2 cents.

There's always the resignation option..................
I was just carrying the initial statement to one of it's logical conclusions.
As for me resigning from the club, I'll admit the thought crossed my mind a few months ago. After taking some time away from actively participating in the club and the forum, I decided there was no way that was going to happen. Ignoring or backing away from problems is not the way to make them better. Nothing's ever changed by doing so. So, like it or not, me, and my "too democratic" ideas, are back.
There's no need to remove this thread. That's already been done one time too many this week as it is. We, as members, have the right to state opinions and post our views for other members to ponder, as long as they don't stray into the territories of personal attacks, profanity, or other breaches of forum etiquette.

Wow!! I step away from the computer for 1 day and I miss the fireworks.
I think this thread is great
Finally some passion. For enthusiasts, I fell that we have been... well, lacking.
It seems that everyone has needed this vent for quite awhile and I'm glad to see that I am not the only one that has been frustrated. (It's the only car club I've been a member and it was becoming less and less fun)
Glad to see you on the boards Bob.
Let's make this thing fun.
Let's make this about the MINI.
Let's Eat.
Let's Motor.

Hiya, Friends!
I'm not in your area, but I feel related to you and want to encourage you not to delete threads just because there is a lively discussion going on. It IS healthy to air issues and discuss things, as long as things don't get personal or violate NAM site guidelines.
Best of luck to you all! Hope to see y'all at the Dragon SOOOOON!

I hesitate to jump into this but that's never stopped me before. I guess I don't understand what the problem is. Since I joined the club it has been my impression that everyone involved was working hard to make this a good club. So I don't know where all of this animosity is coming from. I thought I WAS having fun but maybe I haven't been and just thought I was
.
I agree with Lee and Debi and think those who are interested in running for office should tell us a little bit about themselves, why they want to hold office and what they want to see the club do and be. That makes sense to me. But as far as some of the comments I've read so far, all I can say is lighten up guys! It's JUST a car club!!
At least the picnic on Saturday should be interesting
.
